The ThermaCool NXT is a device for doctor’s offices that is offered by Thermage. This machine allows doctors to perform skin treatments on patients that will tighten and firm the skin for a younger appearance overall. The technology behind the ThermaCool NXT is patented monopolar capacitive radiofrequency, or CRF. This system will effectively heat the underlying layers of skin to provide tightening and contouring that will shave years off of the complexion. The treatment can also stimulate collagen production in the skin. The procedure is considered to be non-invasive, and upgrades to the machine have made the entire process quicker and easier for doctors and patients alike.

There are a number of radio-frequency skin care treatments like the ThermaCool NXT available in doctor’s offices today. According to some research, these treatments may improve the look of age spots, enlarged pores and wrinkles. The treatments target the specific problem areas, leaving the rest of the skin untouched. The treatments are mostly comfortable, with most patients reporting a slight tingling sensation or perhaps a quick pinch in the more sensitive areas. A topical anesthetic and a cooling device may be used to increase patient comfort.

While radio-frequency skin care like the ThermaCool NXT is effective and relatively safe, it is not a permanent solution to the aging issue. Couple that with the fact that patients will need up to five sessions to obtain and maintain the desired results, and consumers considering this option will have a high price tag to grapple with. It is important to note that most insurance companies do not cover cosmetic procedures like the ThermaCool NXT, so patients are left to foot the bill out of their own pockets.

We would also like to mention that while the ThermaCool NXT treatments are considered safe with few side effects to speak of, no medical procedure is not without some risk. Patients may experience some redness and discomfort after the procedure in addition to the mild discomfort associated with the procedure itself.
