Tawaka is a skin care product from Ojon, a company that uses oil extracted from the Ojon trees in Central America in all of their hair and skin care products. The company website goes into significant detail about what this oil can do and how it is harvested using traditional methods to produce unique products that hydrate and soften the hair and skin. Tawaka Ancient Tribal Rejuvenating Cream is designed to protect skin from free radical damage while increasing firmness and elasticity. It can also be used on the hair as a repair therapy according to the company website.
The hair care line can be purchased through the Ojon website, although we could not find a way to order the Tawaka skin care line through the same process. We did find the skin care products through a number of online retailers, however. Ojon offers a 30-day money back guarantee on all purchases and sells to salons and retailers as well as individuals. The cream sells for about $65 for a 6.1 ounce size at the time of this review.
Product Details
While the Ojon website goes into great detail about how the Tawaka cream can be used, we are disappointed to find that the company website does not provide a complete ingredient list for its skin care line. We believe that this information is essential in helping consumers make educated decisions about their skin care purchases. Fortunately, some online retailers did provide this information and included the following active ingredients: Ojon oil, which is rich in omega acids; Theobroma cacao seed butter, for its emollient properties; Alula leaf extract, for its anti-inflammatory properties; and Achiote seed extract, which is a natural antioxidant.
Unfortunately, we do not see anything in these active ingredients that would be particularly effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. While this formula may have plenty of moisturizing ability, we don’t see anything in the mix that would suggest it is a potent anti-aging product.

The Bottom Line
Using skin care products containing unique, exotic ingredients only found in a single part of the world may sound enticing, but it doesn’t guarantee an effective anti-aging product. No exotic oil is going to be able to take the place of proven, patented ingredients like matrixyl and argireline, or tested substances like soluble collagen and hyaluronic acid. We would encourage consumers to read past the stories from far off lands to find formulas with tried and true combinations.
