Smashbox Cosmetics is more than a cosmetics company; it is the image of what’s hot in Hollywood today. Many stars have worked with Smashbox, which was started by the great grandsons of Max Factor, Dean and Davis Factor. In addition to selling a trendy, high quality cosmetics line, Smashbox is also home to a modeling agency, clothing line and production company. This company believes in sharing its trade secrets and beauty tips with all of its customers, which is why you have the ability to chat directly with one of their makeup experts live during regular business hours.
Smashbox Cosmetics is primarily about makeup rather than skin care, but there are a couple of products that are designed to help your skin look younger even while enhancing it. The two that caught our eye are the Artificial Light Luminizing Lotion and the Photo Finish Primer. We found these products, along with many others in the Smashbox line, through the company website and other fine department stores and online retailers. The products are reasonably priced, ranging from $30 to $42 at the time of this review.
Product Details
Unfortunately, we were unable to find complete ingredient lists for either of the Smashbox products. This is always a concern for those with sensitive skin, since irritation and skin allergies could be a problem. The Photo Finish Primer is said to contain vitamins, antioxidants and dermaxyl. Dermaxyl is also known as palmitoyl oligopeptide, which is a common ingredient in anti-aging products. While peptides are always a positive in products designed for this purpose, there are better ones to choose from. Palmitoyl pentapeptide (matrixyl) and acetyl hexapeptide (argireline) both contain peptide complexes that have been proven to reduce the signs of aging by a significant degree.
The other product, Artificial Light Luminizing Lotion, does not claim to contain any anti-aging ingredients. Instead, it claims to enhance the look of the skin and diminish the signs of aging from a cosmetic standpoint – by softening the way light reflects off the skin and thereby reducing the appearance of aging. The product does contain ginkgo biloba and green tea, which can contribute to the overall health of your skin.

The Bottom Line
Smashbox Cosmetics is a fantastic line of products if you are looking for makeup and tools. However, anti-aging products are not included in this line. If you are looking to turn back the clock on your skin, find other products to use first and add Smashbox anti-wrinkle makeup items to enhance the benefits that you receive.
