Overview
Reversa is another skincare product line made in Canada. Besides being claimed to provide the most effective UVA and UVB sun filters, the manufacturers also claim that their creams and lotions can reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The Reversa line of products include the UV anti wrinkle cream, UV anti wrinkle fluid and UV anti wrinkle eye contour cream. Reversa also has an antioxidant Booster Serum, which they claim protects against environmental hazards like sun, pollution and even mental stress.
Reversa claims that the night creams work while you are sleeping and repair all the skin’s imperfections on a cellular level. After applying the cream one should see a decrease in skin discoloration, wrinkles and signs of aging, all while you sleep. Other benefits of the Reversa products include its ability to moisturize, cleanse the skin and rid the skin of acne. The Web site has also released a number of media clippings. Some local newspapers claim that Reversa is a “Miracle in a Bottle”, and other statements by cosmetic physicians, especially dermatologist, all have great things to say about the product; in essence, they all say Reversa is great, can reverse aging and can bring out a fresh and a smoother looking skin tone in users.
Product Details
Reversa products are made in Canada by Dermtek Pharmaceutical. This same company achieved international fame by manufacturing Ombrelle, a suntan lotion. The company says it is one of the first to incorporate glycolic acid as an inactive ingredient in its skin care products. The other innovation associated with Reversa products is the introduction of the “Time Release Glyco Comfort System”- a formula that reduces skin irritation and maintains effective exfoliation.
The ingredients in all Reversa products include a combination of hyaluronic acid, marine extracts, micro collagen, Parasol, Pea and Rumex extracts, Soy isoflavones and wild Yam. The other ingredients in Reversa products include extracts from green tea, vitamin E and Beta Glucan, all of which provide antioxidant activity. The company claims that these antioxidants capture free radicals from the environment and destroy them before the skin can be harmed. The other major component of all Reversa products is 8% glycolic acid.

- Fails to mention any side effects of glycolic acid, which is a moderately strong peeling agent.

The Bottom Line
Reversa has a decent website and they have documented their products well. Most of the claims made by the company remain unproven, however. It appears that all of the Reversa creams, lotions and potions primarily act as a skin peeling agent, which may not be healthy in the long term. The products have been jazzed up with extracts from everywhere, but these may not have many effects. There is not a single study related to the product formula posted. Since the manufacturer has hyped up glycolic acid in their formulation, why not just go out and buy glycolic itself? It is much cheaper and at least the results to expect are well documented.
