Lola Cosmetics is a company that is located in the posh city of Beverly Hills, California. The product line was created by Victoria Jackson who likes to say that women are “her passion”, claiming that there is a “Lola” in every woman. Lola Cosmetics are available at boutiques worldwide and at many online retail sites. The products are not available to consumers through the official Lola Cosmetics website, however. Refine Primer is promoted to be a silicone-free daily foundation primer. It promises to “instantly” smooth the skin and provide a silky smooth finish for applying foundation and other makeup products.

Product Details

Lola Cosmetics Refine Primer is said to contain active levels of Retinoids, Antioxidants, and Peptides which help to promote skin regeneration and to deliver oxygen and other nutrients which are said to assist in rejuvenating the skin. Some of the many ingredients that appear be included in the formula are Glycerin, Polysilicone, Ginseng Root, Safflower Seed Oil, Soybean Extract and more. Although the Refine Primer may contain plant extracts, little is known at this time if there are actually any anti-aging benefits in these types of ingredients. Certain plant extracts may offer some hydration and moisturizing benefits, however. Silicone based products have been known to clog the pores in some individuals so the Refine Primer should be used with caution. Products which are known to clog pores can cause skin irritation and blemishes. Lola Cosmetics states that the Refine Primer can be used alone or under makeup foundation.

The Good

  • Refine Primer provides a smoother finish for applying makeup foundation which is important when trying to create an all-over even skin tone.
  • The product is available through many online retail sites.

The Bad

  • Refine Primer does not include advanced ingredients for anti-aging.
  • The Lola Cosmetics official website does not post any customer testimonials.
  • Refine Primer is not available to purchase directly from the manufacturer.
  • No before and after photos are published on the official Lola Cosmetics website.

The Bottom Line

Lola Cosmetics Refine Primer may appeal to consumers looking to achieve a smoother look under makeup. Do not mistakenly conclude that this formula has any anti-aging properties, however. As for the plant extracts included in the list of ingredients, they may offer some skin hydration and moisturizing benefits. Skin care products made with silicone have been known to clog the pores in some individuals so caution may be in order here. Today many manufacturers promote one ingredient as being the “active” that will produce results but for a product to be really effective as an anti-aging formula, it must contain all of the essential ingredients proven to be effective in the fight against fine lines and wrinkles. Ingredients like Matrixyl 3000, Argireline and Real Collagen are the ingredients listed in the top selling anti-aging formulas on the market today.
