Overview
Like so many other skincare brands, Physician's Formula claims to sell only the most innovative products on the market. Created in 1937, Physician's Formula is a very old and established company and the official website says it is committed to manufacturing only the highest quality hypo-allergenic cosmetics and skin care products. The website also claims that Physician's Formula products are recommended by dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and allergists.
Physician's Formula has a very impressive product line that covers many areas of the beauty world such as cosmetics, skincare, sun care and accessories. There aren't any products that we would consider anti-aging, but there are some products under the Moisturizers category that contain some common anti-aging ingredients. The two products that stick out are the Collagen Cream Concentrate and the Elastin/Collagen Moisture Lotion. While most people wouldn't seek these out as wrinkle fighters, we think they may have ingredients worth looking at more closely.
Product Details
The two Physician's Formula products that contain collagen both have similar ingredients and the major difference is the nature of the product itself. One is a cream, that has a very thick and concentrated consistency, and the other is your basic lotion which can be applied quickly over a large area.
We like the fact that these aren't marketed as wrinkle treatments but instead as moisturizers that have a little bit of wrinkle fighting potential. The official website is very clear on the ingredients and the directions for use, but we don't see any testimonials or clinical trial data anywhere.
The Collagen Cream Concentrate contains: Water, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, TEA Stearate, Cetyl Ricinoleate, Glycine Soja Sterol (Soybean), Soluble Collagen, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tridecyl Stearate, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Carbomer, Cetyl Esters, Cholecalciferol, Zea Mays (Corn) Oil, Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans, PEG 20, Retinyl Palmitate, BHT, Potassium Sorbate, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Quaternium 15, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.
The Good
- You can purchase Physician's Formula products directly from the official website.
- The two products examined on this page both contain soluble collagen which may help improve the firmness of your skin.
- Physician's Formula products are hypo-allergenic.
The Bad
- There are no testimonials posted on the official website.
- There is no money-back guarantee or trial sizes available.
- These products are not intended to treat fine lines and wrinkles. They are moisturizers.
- Products contain parabens, which can irritate some users with sensitive skin.
The Bottom Line
Physician's Formula products don't claim to fight wrinkles so you can't be upset with them if they don't deliver in that area. Instead what you get is a very complete moisturizer that has soluble collagen in the ingredients. These products are very inexpensive so it couldn't hurt to buy some and use them in conjunction with more powerful wrinkle fighters. We don't recommend Physician's Formula products at all with regards to wrinkles, but if you are looking for a nice moisturizer, this might be a good brand to try out.
