Peter Thomas Roth Review

The Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care company was created in 1993 by Peter Thomas Roth, who is the son of a Hungarian spa/hotel operator. Peter had an interest in skin care from an early age and as an adult he sought to treat his own skin problems such as acne, fine lines, and sunspots. The goal of Peter Thomas Roth products is to use potent and effective ingredients combined with advanced scientific technology to create a wide variety of products that can meet the needs of those with specific skin problems and varied skin types.

The line of products created by Peter Thomas Roth specifically for the treatment of aging skin is called Un-Wrinkle. There are four different products available in the Un-Wrinkle line and they are the Un-Wrinkle serum, eye, night, and peel pads. Each of the products in the Un-Wrinkle line contains various blends of peptides and neuro-peptides and the products claim to be a “pain-free alternative” to Botox.

Product Details

The Un-Wrinkle line of Peter Thomas Roth is marketed to those looking to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as help hydrate their skin. The official website claims that this line of products will help your skin look younger, clearer, and have a more even tone. Men and women are both encouraged to make use of these products.

The key components in the Un-Wrinkle line are peptides of various forms combined with some anti-oxidants and natural extracts. The Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Serum contains: Water (Aqua), Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Tripeptide, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3, Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Phospholipids, Dimethicone PEG-7 Phosphate, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-3, Squalane, Sodium Hyaluronate, Propylene Glycol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Diazolidinyl Urea, PEG-75, Bisabolol, Panthenol (Pro Vitamin B5), Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Extract, Oleth-2, Triethanolamine, Oleth-5, Xanthan Gum, Yellow 5, Red 33, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Vanilla Essential Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride.

The Good

  • You can purchase all of the Peter Thomas Roth products from the official website.
  • There are tons of different products available. The four listed here are just the Un-Wrinkle line.
  • The full list of ingredients is provided with each product.

The Bad

  • Peter Thomas Roth doesn’t seem to be a licensed dermatologist and doesn’t seem to have much experience.
  • Many products contain parabens which may irritate your skin.
  • There is no money-back guarantee on the products.
  • You may have to use sunscreen in addition to the Peter Thomas Roth products, since some products can cause heightened sun sensitivity.

The Bottom Line

There are many anti-wrinkle treatments out there that claim to do what Peter Thomas Roth products do, but they have an advantage. We would like to see more testimonials regarding Peter Thomas Roth products or some clinical studies and product trial testing data posted on the official. Even a money back guarantee or a free product sample for new users would help this product line in the highly competitive anti-aging market.

  1. I have been looking for a product with obvious results and I found it with Peter Roth’s Un-wrinkle product. I have been using for only a couple of days and can already see a result in the relaxing of the lines on my forehead! I’m actually really suprised at how well it worked so fast. I’ll see if it has any adverse effects over long term use(my skin breaking out, etc.) but for now I love it!

  2. I recently purchased, on-line, your anti-aging eye illuminator. However, there is no instruction as to how to apply this. Is it used with a sponge applicator used for regular shadow or, if there is a specific way to apply this I would appreciate your advising me what that is. Please advise ASAP. Thank you.

  3. I love love PTR products. I am in my early 50’s and I can recommend this for woman of my age. The lines on my forehead have flatened (not disspeared) and are less pronounced. The moisture that has gone back into my skin is fabulous. If you like PTR, definitely try the Un-Wrinkle Foundation. I use the Mega Rich Creme and Mega Rich Eye, foundation and top off with your favorite powder. I look so much better. For night I recommend the Retinol Infusion with Un-Wrinkle Night and Mega Rick Eye Creme to get started. The product is pricey, but well worth it. I am a product guru and this is a fabulous product. I have now included the face cleanser and bath bead gel into my daily regimen. Leave the Clinque for the younsters, this is one for us beautiful aging menopause women. This is one product line that you spend a little more but you will be so happy. 🙂

    1. This review sounds very professional! I’m suspect that it may be generated from a Pater Roth insider. Comments?

      1. I am flattered you think I am a professional. No, I am not a PTR insider. I did work for Lancome years ago so maybe I have the savvy of writing it that way. This is a great product. It’s working for me.
Hope you have a chance to try it. You can purchase a starter kit. That’s what I did and feel in love with it.
Sephora can give you samples too. Good luck!

  4. I too just recently purchased the starter kit and foundation of PTR products. Love it, love it. Moisture is back, lines are less noticeable and my husband has noticed the difference. Thanks to the staff at Sephora that introduced me to PTR products.

  5. Which Peter Thomas product would you recommended for a neck (turkey Neck) I’m in my 60. Are you products available in the stores ?

  6. I have just started using the un-wrinkle starter kit and noticed immediate results. I am surprised that one of “The Bad(s)” is that you have to use sunscreen. Using sunscreen is NOT optional at any age.

  7. My question is: I just purchased the 6 peiece essentials kit and the FirmX. At which step would I use the firmx? Thanks

  8. I bought the instant firm x eyecream. It leaves a white film. I hate it I bought the viz 1000 serum and makes me breakout. I tried to send it back to the essential company that sent it to me and they refused to take it back if its been opened! Well how do you know if it works unless you try it first?

  9. It is a horibble website! There is a lack of communication. I made my first purchase and emailed them to cancel it. It’s been 5 days and have not heard back from them. I don’t even know what’s going on with my transaction. I feel like I’ve been scammed. Horrible customer service!

    1. Anyone trying his products should buy through either QVC, 30 day money back guarantee on anything, even if you use down to the bottom of a jar and are disatisfied or Sephora as they too let you do a return on products.

  10. I have been using PTR anti-aging cleansing gel, max sheer all day moisturizer (contains sunscreen!) and the mega rich intensive cream at night and really like the product. I bought them at an Ulta store on the skin clinicians recommendations. I was very skeptical but the price was right for the starter pack. I am liking the results I am seeing.

    1. I use a roller serum and light eye cream before using firmx. I let the eye cream and serum set for about 10 minutes before applying firmx.

  11. I bought the Peter Roth black Irish face mud pack- and it literally burnt my face –it was more like an aggressive peel without the warning!!!. It took ice and 24 hrs to cool down,. I immediately contacted QVC for a refund. I do not have particularly sensitive skin and use facial packs regularly- but this made me NEVER want to try any of their products.
