Neutrogena Age Shield Sunblock is a antiaging product offered by the trusted Neutrogena name. The sunblock facial cream offers an SPF of 30 to 90, depending on the production chosen, to protect the skin from the damaging rays of the sun. The marketed ingredient in Neutrogena Age Shield Sunblock is Helioplex.

There is an official website for the Neutrogena Age Shield Sunblock that includes information for men, women and teens. The product information includes an instruction section on how to apply the Neutrogena Age Shield Sunblock, but no complete ingredient list which was surprising for a major product name like Neutrogena.

Product Features

The Neutrogena Age Shield Sunblock appears to be sold on the Neutrogena website, but when the consumer adds the product to their cart – the checkout takes place at a third party retailer. The price through the seller is $10.99. The outside retailer also posts the ingredients in the Neutrogena Age Shield Sunblock. These ingredients include Water, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Silica, Diethylhexyl 2,6-Naphthalate, VP/Hexadecene Copolymer, Dimethicone, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Methicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Retinyl Palmitate, Bisabolol, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Butylene Glycol, Behenyl Alcohol, BHT, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Trideceth 6, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG 100 Stearate, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Ethylparaben and Phenoxyethanol.

As a sunblock – the UVA and UVB protection are top of the line. But, there are no ingredients in this product that aim to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It seems the product has been created more as a preventative lotion rather than a lotion to reverse the damage done by the skin already.

The Good

  • The Neutrogena Age Shield Sunblock is inexpensive.
  • There is an official website for the product.
  • The ingredient list can be found online.

The Bad

  • The official ingredient list was not found on the official website.
  • The Neutrogena Age Shield Sunblock product is more of a preventative skin care treatment.
  • None of the ingredients reduce the signs of aging.
  • The product cannot be ordered from the Neutrogena website.

The Bottom Line

The Neutrogena Age Shield Sunblock is a skin care product with sun damage prevention in mind. The ingredient list does not include any of the most common antiaging ingredients that are commonly used in products with wrinkle reduction in mind. While the Neutrogena company is a trusted name, there are better products on the market that will work better to reduce the fine lines associated with aging.

At this time we cannot support the Neutrogena Age Shield Sunblock as a treatment for aging skin though it may work wonderfully as a sunblock with an SPF up to 90 and UVA and UVB protection against the sun’s rays.
