M.B. York, a line of hip cosmetics, recently launched their response to the lack of anti-wrinkle products in their skincare line — Beauty Ammo Kit. Featured on HSN and in Shape Magazine, M.B. York got their first boost from rapper P. Diddy, who featured their products as a special gift for his twin girls. Since then M.B. York is a known name among celebrities and consumers alike, and their new anti-wrinkle kit is sure to turn heads.

Beauty Ammo Kit, as the name implies, is a kit of applications claiming to kill wrinkles on site, renewing a flawless, even glow after one month of use. Included in this M.B. York kit is a Collagen Eye Mask (which claims to remove stubborn Crow’s Feet in a snap), Line Putty (designed for deep-down application on the eye mask), and Camouflage Eye Disguise (a special type of concealer). Each are packaged together and intended for use together — M.B. York claims this is the only way to see dramatic results, as stated through promotions through popular magazines. The kit is affordable too — one kit sets you back $85.00 — and even comes with a demonstration video and sponge applicators. With the ability to purchase online or through a sponsored salon, it’s no surprise why this kit is exceedingly popular. Popularity does not necessarily indicate a functional product, however.

Product Details

According to a separate Internet retailer not affiliated with M.B. York, the Beauty Ammo Kit contains these ingredients: Collagen eye mask: dicaprylyl maleate, water, cora alba (beeswax), ppg-26 oleate, lanolin, bentonite, hydrogenatedvegetable oil, soluble collagen, butyrospemum parkii(shea butter), sodium borate, cananga oldorata flower oil, propylparaben, methylparaben, sodium dehydroacetate, annatto.Line putty: water (aqua), silica, cetearyl ethylhexanoate, glyceryl stearate, glycerin, magnesium aluminim silicate, peg-100 stearate, hydrogenated vegetable oil, disodium edta, carbomer, anthemis nobilis flower extract, cetyl alcohol, dimethicone, dea-cetyl phosphate, triethanloamine, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, ethylparaben. Concealer: water, propylene glycol, squalane, ppg-2 mirystyl ether propionate, capryllic/capric triglyceride, nyon 12, kaoling, glyceryl stearate, stearic acid, cetyl esters, magnesium aluminim silicate.

Collagen is an important ingredient here – numerous studies show soluble collagen helps lessen the appearance of wrinkles because it supplies synthetic collagen directly to skin cells. Collagen is the structural part of skin cells which give skin a firm, wrinkle-free appearance, and when that breaks down over time (mostly due to age), collagen is lost. Replenishing this supply is the goal of numerous companies. Other ingredients, including Shea Butter and Squalane, are known to have penetrative moisturization qualities, and although they won’t aid in the reduction of wrinkles, moisturizing the skin is key to healthy skincare. The sheer amount of synthetic ingredients included, however, may indicate this is used in smaller amounts; certain amounts of the ingredient must be used to achieve these benefits.

The Good

  • Contains Soluble Collagen.
  • Shea Butter and Squalane are popular moisturizers.

The Bad

  • The kit itself is a bit of a hassle – using three products simultaneously can get confusing.
  • Contains only one anti-wrinkle agent.
  • The sheer volume of ingredient might indicate its main ingredients are contained in lesser volume, possibly reducing its effect.

The Bottom Line

M.B. York may be popular, but one proven anti-wrinkle agent may not be enough to lessen the appearance of wrinkles. Despite this problem, its availability and price are key components of why it is so popular – and these may provide some benefits.
