In 2002 Tracey Brennan, a mother who was completely fed up with department store makeup counters that did not offer “one stop shopping” for effective skin care treatments along with an educated staff, founded Kalologie Skin Care. Kalologie means “the study of beauty”. Kalologie Skincare aims to offer individuals access to the information, tools and treatments that will dramatically improve the nature of one’s relationship with their skin and their complexion. The treatments available at the Kalologie Spa, located in Los Angeles, also include cosmetic skincare procedures such as non-surgical laser therapy and chemical peels. Kalologie provides a number of out-patient procedures such as Botox injections, as well as skin lightening procedures and hair waxing. The Kalologie Skincare line offers skin care products, bath and body products, hair care products, fragrances, and specialty items for men. The official website also offers a number of other skin care brands including Aeto, Arcona, Barex, Gantier, IS Clinical, Kai, MD Skincare, ReVive, Xela Aromasticks and Z. Bagatti. Elle magazine included Kalologie Skincare in its list of “America’s Top Ten Beauty Boutiques”.

Some of the top sellers in the Kalologie Skincare product line are Emerge Exfoliating Serum, Infuse Antioxidant Serum, Boost Moisturizing Gel, Replenish Night Repair Cream, Envision Eye Cream and Illuminate Eye Renewal Cream. Kalologie Skincare claims that all of their products are of “medical grade”, dermatology tested, chirally correct, paraben free, sulfate free, with no artificial colors or fragrances. Some of the typical ingredients in the products are water, witch hazel, Ethanol, Glycerin, Glycolic Acid, Lavender Oil, Jasmine Flower Oil and Sweet Orange Oil, Apple Fruit Extract, Soybean Seed Extract, Rosemary Seed Extract and Resveratrol.
The Good
- Kalologie provides topical products and skin care systems that are easily applied and intended for home use.
- Kalologie offers many alternatives to surgical procedures such as chemical peels and injections through their skin care products.
The Bad
- No advanced ingredients such as Argireline, Matrixyl 3000 or Collagen are included in Kalologie products.
- At the time of this review, it seems that the products are only available at the Kalologie Spa location or only through the official website.
- Kalologie products are somewhat expensive and may not be affordable to the average consumer in the market for anti-aging products.
The Bottom Line
While it is good that Kalologie offers so many types of anti-aging products and alternatives to cosmetic skin care procedures, it would be better if the products included ingredients such as Matrixyl-3000, Hyaluronic Acid, Argireline, and Collagen. Without customer testimonials or before & after photos, it is difficult to assess whether or not the products are worth trying. Some Kalologie products do contain Glycolic Acid which is a proven ingredient used in many anti-aging products. With slightly higher prices than the average consumer may be willing to pay, consumers may want to look elsewhere for products that do contain the most effective anti-aging ingredients available on the market today.
