Overview
Janson Beckett is one of the largest “cosmeceutical” manufacturers operating today. The company, based out of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, has devoted considerable resources to researching and developing products that make use of new lab technologies to treat timeless cosmetic concerns. Janson Beckett has been in business for over thirty-five years and they state that all of their many products are manufactured in the USA. This is in contrast to many rival “cosmeceutical” companies that make a point of importing popular treatments from the European market, then repackaging them over here. Janson Beckett’s mission statement is to bring consumers viable, non-surgical alternatives to beauty treatments like Botox and other cosmetic surgery.
The Janson Beckett stable of cosmetic products includes: AlphaDerma CE, DMAE Night Cream, Derma Excel 7, BeautiFull Lips Lip Plumper, Profile Anti-Cellulite Treatment, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Certified Organic Skin Toner, OkuSil Intensive Eye Serum, Peptide Facial Skin Prep, Sun Block Daytime Moisturizer, Certified Organic Cleansing Milk, Vitamin C Ester and DMAE Moisturizing Cream, Vitamin C&C Facial Serum and Certified Organic Cleansing Milk. As you can see, all of these products rely heavily on molecular technologies like peptides. The company is also frequently developing and releasing new products.
Product Details
We’d say that the product that Janson Beckett is most famous for would have to be their AlphaDerma CE wrinkle fighting treatment. The key active ingredient here is the protein-based peptide complex Argireline. It is interesting that, despite Janson Beckett’s “made in the USA” policy, we know that Argireline was developed by and is manufactured by a third party European laboratory. Extensive research has been done on Argireline, and it does seem to be capable of dulling certain facial muscle receptors. The theory here is that repeated muscle contractions lead to wrinkles, so relaxed muscles will prevent new wrinkles and help to reduce existing ones. However, according to the European lab’s own research, the concentration of Argireline in any product is crucial, and the lab has no control over how much or how little different product manufacturers choose to include.
Other ingredients found in Janons Beckett’s AlphaDerma CE are: demineralized spring water, octyl methoxycinnamate, glycerine, olive oil, oxybenzone, soybean oil, stearic acid, hydrolyzed soy protein, soluble collagen, hydrolyzed elastin, alpha lipoic acid, ascorbyl palmitate (vitamin c ester), dmae bitartrate, aloe vera extract, glyceryl stearate, allantoin, citric acid, microcrystalline cellulose, cetyl alcohol, simethicone, methylparaben, propylparaben, cetearyl alcohol, ceteareth--20, and tea carbomer 940.
The Good
- Products contain scientifically proven peptides.
- Janson Beckett official website appears to give all product ingredients.
- Official website offers many user testimonials.
The Bad
- Unclear how well the company’s “made in the USA” claim stands up.
- It seems like many products contain parabens, which are a type of preservative linked to contact dermatitis in some users.
- Do not seem to offer money back guarantees for products.
- Some users report dry skin after using some of the more potent products.
The Bottom Line
Janson Beckett definitely seem to be on track with their modern approach to cosmetic skin care. Users are free to pick and choose between different products targeted towards different problem areas. However, with so many creams and lotions to choose from, we’d have to take a closer look at the individual product in question before we could really recommend it.
