Intervene Pause and Effect is a moisturizing cream from Elizabeth Arden. Elizabeth Arden also markets makeup and fragrances and is widely available in department stores. Intervene Pause and Effect takes a different approach to anti-aging efforts. It is marketed at the younger 25-39 age group and is meant as a preventative treatment, not a restoration. It claims that, over time, it supports skin’s natural cell metabolism rate which helps to fight stress lines.

We do like the fact that you can purchase the Intervene Pause and Effect on the Elizabeth Arden website but there does not appear to be a money-back guarantee offered if the product doesn’t live up to your expectations. Also, a full ingredient list is not provided. At a retail price of around $55 for 1.7 ounces, we would expect far more information from the company about the formulation and links to clinical studies supporting the effectiveness of the ingredients and the product itself.

Product Details

Intervene Pause and Effect claims to nourish skin and correct the first signs of aging. It does not claim to reduce wrinkles or boost the skin’s ability to produce collagen, both of which are important cornerstones of skin rejuvenation. Unfortunately, the company does not even back up the claims that it makes with either a list of the ingredients contained in the cream or references to clinical studies supporting the product’s effectiveness.

Not being able to review the full ingredient list is troublesome, especially for those with skin allergies or sensitivities. For example, parabens are cosmetic preservatives used in many department-store skin care products. Parabens are known allergens and many higher-quality formulations exclude them for that reason. It is unknown whether the Intervene Pause and Effect contains these ingredients. It leaves us also unable to determine whether the product contains lower-quality “fillers”. Those with allergies may wish to be careful about using this product until you are able to review a full ingredient list with your doctor or dermatologist.

The Good

  • Well-established company.
  • Available for purchase online.

The Bad

  • Only claims to be a preventative not a restorative treatment.
  • No full ingredient list available.
  • No money-back guarantee appears to be offered.
  • May not contain effective ingredients like collagen or hyaluronic acid.

The Bottom Line

Intervene Pause and Effect approaches the aging dilemma with a unique angle- stop wrinkles before they start. However, without knowing what is actually in the product, it is impossible to analyze the claims made. There are so many clinically-proven skin care products on the market that both prevent and repair the visible signs of aging skin that it is difficult to recommend this one that only appears to do half the job, although younger users could find Intervene Pause and Effect appealing.
