Helioplex Review

Helioplex appears to be a proprietary active ingredient found in Neutrogena products. Primiarily, Helioplex’s job appears to be to function as a powerful sunscreen and protect skin from sun damage. Unlike some other SPF’s, Helioplex claims to protect against the full light spectrum of both UVA and UVB rays. Helioplex can be found in Neutrogena UltraSheer Dry-Touch sunblock, Neutrogena Age Shield sunblock and Neutorogena Fresh Cooling Body Mist Sunblock.

The manufacturers of Helioplex claim that what sets this potent sunblock apart from others is the fact that it is made up of two separate sun protection ingredients. These are Avobenzone and Oxybenzone. Avobenzone is claimed to absorb UVA rays, while Oxybenzone is primarily a UVB absorber, although it has also shown some promise at absorbing a limited quantity of UVA rays. The result of using Helioplex, according to Neutrogena, is complete sun protection over the entire light spectrum.

Product Details

Of course, sun protection is crucial to good skin care. UV rays can age skin very quickly so, in addition to cancer prevention benefits, protecting yourself from the sun from a young age can lead to healthy, undamaged looking skin. Heloplex is not likely to have any effect on existing wrinkles or skin damage, but it does look like a good bet when it comes to sun protection. Pairing up one of Neutrogena’s Helioplex-based sunscreens with a good, peptide-based wrinkle treatment is a great way to ensure you have the youngest, healthiest looking skin possible.

The Good

  • Helioplex claims to effectively block both UVA and UVB rays, which may not be true of all sunscreens.
  • Helioplex can be found in Neutrogena products, which are available in nearly every big-name drugstore chain.

The Bad

  • Helioplex won’t do anything to help with already existing wrinkles or repair existing sun damage.
  • No free trial samples of products that include Helioplex seem to be offered.
  • May be more expensive than generic sunblocks.

The Bottom Line

Sun protection is important, and Helioplex looks like a pretty good choice. While no one is claiming that Helioplex will affect existing wrinkles, it is a good idea to use protective products like this one to help prevent more wrinkles and more serious sun-related complications. Pairing Helioplex with a potent anti-aging serum could be one way to get and keep healthy, good looking skin. However, you will probably want to review the different Neutrogena products that include Helioplex on their own merits. While Neutrogena claims that they are the only one to offer sun protection this extensive, rival sun block brands could also offer competitive prices and ingredients. This site is devoted to wrinkle erasing products, not sunblocks, so you may want to do some more research on this subject somewhere else, and if you have serious concerns over sun protection it’s worth speaking to a dermatologist.

  1. I had a very severe, painful reaction to helioplex in sunscreen and, judging by the info on the net, I am not alone. I only used the sunscreen on my legs (30 SPF) and it looked and felt like boiling water had been pored on them. Steriods were necessary to reduce the inflamation and swelling. Please test a small area to see if you are sensitive to this produce before using.
