Grassroots Research Labs is a company that produces skin care products using only natural ingredients. They appear to have three major product lines including the Vitamin C product line, a Blue Algae product line, and a Pomegranate based product line. In this review, we’ll take a closer look at one of the products in the Vitamin C product line to see if it is a viable skin care solution.

Product Details

Grassroots Research Labs Vitamin C Brightening Serum works on its own or in conjunction with the Vitamin C Power Brightening Cream SPF 25 product to reduce discoloration and sunspots and protect the skin from the damaging rays of sunlight. It also helps to get rid of past sun damage. It will help to brighten the skin and reduce the likelihood of future sunspots. Vitamin C helps to visibly brighten skin and even out skin tone. Vitamin E and B5 are known to help fortify the skin against future damage. According to study results, 71% of people who used the product saw an increase in skin clarity. After four weeks of use 80% of users reported a more even skin tone. 71% of people noticed a visible reduction in skin discoloration and sunspots, and after 8 weeks, 39% of people reported a measurable increase in skin clarity.

The Good

  • Though we can’t see a full ingredient list, we know this product contains vitamins C, E and B5.
  • It is reasonably priced at a suggested retail price of $32.50 per bottle.

The Bad

  • We don’t see a full ingredients list.
  • It looks as though this product can only be purchased online through Kohl’ We don’t know if it is available in traditional Kohl’s stores.
  • There does not appear to be any money back guarantee for this product.
  • There are no customer testimonials for this product.
  • Though the product claims to be clinically proven, we see no evidence of these studies.

The Bottom Line

While this product does contain natural ingredients known to improve the condition of the skin and reduce coloration, we don’t really know how well it works. We can’t see proof of the clinical studies that claims such amazing results, and we don’t see a full ingredient list so we can’t verify that this product is completely natural. We recommend using a product that you know contains proven ingredients to help the skin and making this a part of your regular skin care routine.

It can be purchased in the Kohl’s stores, though supplies are limited. If it’s out of stock, an associate can look for it at a nearby store, or a raincheck can be filled out and they’ll call when it comes in. There is always a money back guarantee if you don’t like it, or it makes your skin break out, etc. Just bring it in with a receipt and they will refund the money. With no receipt, they’ll give you merchandise credit and you can get something else. Source: I’m a Kohl’s associate in the Beauty Dept.

This product works great. Goes on very light. Had been using an Origins Product and changed to this. I have sensitive skin and have not suffered any breakouts that I get with most products. Full list of ingredients is on the packaging. No parabens!

I started using this serum about 3 weeks ago and I am completely satisfied with the results so far. It leaves my skin very soft and oil free and I’ve notice it’s helping clear up my skin impurities although it’s not the products main purpose.

I was concerned about animal testing of these products. So before I purchased them, I contacted the company via email and I was assured that not a single ingredient nor the final product were ever tested on animals. I went to Khol’s to purchase one (the vitamin C) for 35$ (before taxes) and I found a deal that includes the pomegranate antioxidant, the triple mushroom intensive anti wrinkle and the vitamin C, all 3 (full size of course) for 39.99 ( before taxes) so I gladly bought the three. I have only been using them for 2 days ( I will update again after a month) and I did not see an allergic reaction ( my skin is too sensitive, everything breaks me out and everything makes my skin red and splotchy) so nothing of that happened yet… for now I love the product.

I was using some vitamin C serums which didn’t provide any noticeable results, they were full of things I wasn’t too happy to put on my face + their price was daylight robbery.

I have sensitive combination skin, the only trouble is that it’s prone to shining – but the Lady Soma Renewal Serum solved this.

Well, this serum is something completely different – but it’s the first time that skin product gave me some noticeable results. Skin seems … well, just better, sort of more alive.

Besides, (not very dark) pigmentation I had for years gradually disappeared after a few months of using this serum.

Since my mother is pharmacist I gave her the list of ingredients and she says they are fantastic.

When my husband smelt it on me he liked the smell so much that he tried it – and from that day he’s stealing it on regular basis. He has dry, but not sensitive skin and adores it.

I really like it. Absorbs into skin immediately, light and not oily. Love the way it feels on my skin. I can even put sunscreen on top of it and it still does not feel oily.

I have been using the products morning and night for almost a year. I love the condition my skin is in. The eye cream lifts the lid every morning, love the results. Gave the moisture and eye creams to my three daughters last Christmas and they are all devoted users ever since.
