Bradley Pharmaceuticals, a company recently acquired by NycoMed US Inc., is the developer of Formula 405 AHA Facial Cream. The line also consists of several skin care products for the face, body and nails that the company says are formulated to offer relief from chronic skin and nail conditions. There is no official website for the company, however, and the products are available through various online distributors and internet retailers only. AHA is an acronym for Alpha Hydroxy Acid which is known to be found naturally in spoiled milk as well as some fruits. Alpha Hydroxy Acid is found in many skin care products promising to reduce wrinkles, exfoliate dead skin cells, and rejuvenate the appearance of the skin’s texture. Alpha Hydroxy Acids have been known to cause redness, dryness, flaking, and peeling in individuals with sensitive skin so Formula 405 AHA Facial Cream is not for everyone. It can also make the skin sensitive to the sun and cause burning of the skin if precautions are not taken with sunscreen with at least an SPF 30.
Product Detail
Formula 405 AHA Facial Cream claims to moisturize dry skin and penetrate into the skin to erase fine lines and wrinkles, as well as preventing the skin from drying out in the future. Intense hydration is very important to aging skin. The selling point is that it will make your skin smooth, fresh and younger looking, as well as protect your skin from the elements when used before going outdoors. Formula 405 AHA Facial Cream does not contain SPF, as is mentioned on the packing or in the list of ingredients. The package directions say to use twice daily, both morning and night, and to apply it to clean, dry skin. Some of the ingredients include Water, Coconut Oil, Mineral Oil, Lanolin Alcohol, Sweet Almond Oil and Vitamin E.
The Good
- Formula 405 AHA Facial Cream is readily available online through various retailers and internet distributors.
- The product is reasonably priced and affordable for most women.
The Bad
- This product may be irritating to those with sensitive skin due to the potent AHA content.
- At the time of this review, we could not locate an official product website.
- No customer testimonials to substantiate product claims are provided by the various retailers.
The Bottom Line
Formula 405 AHA Facial Cream is a topical lotion which may offer some exfoliating benefits. However those with sensitive skin should use caution when trying the products and venturing out into the sun. Although protection from the elements is mentioned on the packing, there is no SPF included in the ingredients. It would be helpful if the company had a website where consumers could learn more about the products and read customer testimonials. Skin care enthusiasts will likely try Formula 404 AHA Facial Cream because Alpha Hydroxy lotions have been around for many years and the concept of erasing wrinkles and lines through exfoliation is appealing to many women.
