Edom Mineral Anti-Wrinkle Cream is marketed as containing Dead Sea minerals, coenzyme Q10, and Vitamins A and E. The product claims to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and to preserve natural moisture and elasticity in the skin.
Edom’s official website contains all of its products, along with brief descriptions. There is also a fairly lengthy page on the benefits of Dead Sea salts entitled “Dead Sea Edom Scientific Research” although no definitive research or links to clinical trials are actually provided. Edom Mineral Anti-Wrinkle Cream is focused on its main active ingredient of Dead Sea minerals. Although Dead Sea salts have been used for thousands of years as a rejuvenating treatment, there is little if any clinical proof that Dead Sea minerals applied to the skin have any effect on rejuvenation or the reduction of wrinkles. We were unable to locate links to clinical studies supporting the effectiveness of Dead Sea minerals or of Edom Mineral Anti-Wrinkle Cream.
The Edom MineralAnti-Wrinkle Cream also contains coenzyme Q10 and Vitamins A (as retinyl palmitate) and Vitamin E (as tocopheryl acetate). Coenzyme Q10, a substance that occurs naturally in the body, has shown great promise in clinical studies when taken internally but very little information exists about its effect when applied topically. That is also the case for Vitamin A. Vitamin E has been proven effective in the softening of skin and is a powerful anti-oxidant. However, most effective anti-wrinkle formulations contain peptides, such as Matrixyl 3000 and Argiriline, that have been clinically proven to reduce wrinkles and stimulate natural collagen production. These ingredients are not included in Edom Mineral Anti-Wrinkle Cream.
What troubles us is the inclusion in Edom Mineral Anti-Wrinkle Cream of parabens. Parabens are cosmetic preservatives that are known allergens. Many higher-quality skin care lines do not include parabens because of this. If you have skin allergies or sensitivities, you may wish to be very cautious of this product until you know how your skin will react.
