DermaZinc products are offered by Dermalogix Partners, a company that is primarily concerned with addressing the needs of those suffering from painful, chronic skin conditions. They provide a line of products that can be purchased over the counter along with prescription products that can be obtained from a doctor for more severe conditions. In some cases, the DermaZinc prescription treatments are recommended first, followed by over the counter versions to keep condition outbreaks under control. The company provides sufficient clinical studies and before-and-after photos to support their claims for DermaZinc products.
DermaZinc is specifically formulated to deal with eczema, psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. It has also been found to be effective for those with acne and fungal conditions, and it is gentle enough to use on infants for treating cradle cap and diaper rash. We do not find any evidence to suggest that this company, or this product line, were created with anti-aging interests in mind. DermaZinc is used primarily for treating specific, diagnosed medical conditions and not as a cosmetic product. The line includes a topical cream, shampoo, soap and spray.
Product Details
DermaZinc does not disclose all of its ingredients on the company website, which is always a concern for us when shopping for topical solutions for the skin. Without an awareness of all the ingredients included in a formula, it can be hard to ascertain whether the product will be truly effective and if there needs to be a concern over possible allergies. The DermaZinc website does say that the product contains “a high emollient base for moisturizing and 0.25% zinc pyrithione”.
Zinc pyrithione is an ingredient used for antifungal and antibacterial purposes, and is commonly found in anti-dandruff shampoos. While this indicates that the DermaZinc product may be effective in treating the skin conditions listed above, there is no reason to believe that it would work to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Effective anti-wrinkle solutions will include proven ingredients like matrixyl to stimulate the production of collagen, argireline to relax facial muscles that cause wrinkles and hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin and help it retain moisture.
The Good
- DermaZinc offers a strong online presence with product information and customer testimonials.
The Bad
- A complete ingredient is not available on the company website.
- The DermaZinc products do not contain any anti-aging ingredients.
The Bottom Line
While the DermaZinc product line may be effective in treating some kinds of chronic skin conditions, one does not have any reason to believe that it will turn back the clock on your skin. If you are on the hunt for an anti-wrinkle solution, look for products that contain ingredients like matrixyl, argireline, collagen and hyaluronic acid for the best results.
