Overview
Dermadoctor is a product line created by Audrey Kunin, M.D., a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. She founded Dermadoctor and is currently the president of the company. Dermadoctor offers a handful of products themselves under their own brand, but the official website links to many of the most popular skincare brands available today.
A unique feature of the Dermadoctor site that many other manufacturers wouldn't do is recommend other products by other manufacturers. There is an area where you can select your skin concerns from a multiple-choice list and the website will generate a very thorough skin treatment plan for you that spans multiple products and product brands. For example, if you want a wrinkle reducing product for oily skin with fine lines, you plug your choices into the “Dermawizard” and it will recommend many things for you. We thought this was a pretty interesting feature.
As far as Dermadoctor's own wrinkle fighters, the two that look interesting are the Dermadoctor Faux Fillment Instant Topical Line Filler and the Dermadoctor Immobile Lines Instant Topical Line Relaxer. These products are in the anti-aging line so we will take a closer look at them and see what they are all about.
Product Details
The Dermadoctor Faux Fillment Instant Topical Line Filler is a cream that claims to use an “advanced microencapsulated nanosphere complex” that isolates hyaluronic and fulvic acids. The website claims when these two acids are combined the effects are 2,000 times as strong as hyaluronic acid alone. The overall effect is the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and immediate hydration of the skin.
The exact ingredients are: Aqua (Water), Glyceryl Stearate, Glyceryl Dipalmitate, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone Copolymer, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hyaluronic Acid, Fulvic Acid, Sodium PCA, Poly Lactide-Coglycolide (Nanospheres), Ethoxydiglycol, PEG-150 Distearate, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Potassium Sorbate, Benzoic Acid.
The Immobile Lines Instant Topical Line Relaxer claims to target neurotransmitters that contribute to the development of wrinkles and relax them. This gives you an immediate reduction in wrinkles that lasts up to 24 hours. This product uses something called GABA which comes from tomatos, and portulaca which comes from a West African plant of some kind. This combination is what relaxes the face.
The exact ingredients are: Cyclopentasiloxane, Aqua (Water), Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Steareth-2, Polysilicone-11, Dimethicone, Sodium Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium, Chloride Phosphate, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Glyceryl Behenate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Extract, Panax Ginsing Root Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Ceteareth-20, Phospholipids, Eugenol, Fragrance, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben.
There is also a Wrinkle Revenge line by Dermadoctor that consists of a three-step cleansing and hyrdrating process.
The Good
- Informative website that recommends a wide variety of brands and products.
- Not tested on animals.
The Bad
- The website says it will take 6-8 weeks for noticeable effects on many products.
- No clinical data or trials posted on the website.
- No money back guarantee could be found.
The Bottom Line
Dermadoctor products contain a wide variety of antioxidants but not too many known anti-aging ingredients. The Dermadoctor Faux Fillment Instant Topical Line Filler does contain hyaluronic acid, which is a plus, but to truly be effective this should be combined with other known anti-aging ingredients.
