DDF Review

Overview

The company DDF is know for their innovative three-step approach to skin care. As a company, all of DDF’s products follow their three-step program. So what are the steps? Cleanse, Protect and Treat. All of DDF’s products somehow fall under one of these three categories, and they are all intended to be used in conjunction with each other. DDF, which is short for Doctor’s Dermatologic Formula, is a skin care philosophy as well as a product manufacturer. The company was founded in 1991 by the dermatologist Dr. Howard Soble, MD. One way that this immediately manifests itself is that you can tell the company focuses intently on consumer education; their website gives a lot of info, and they also offer a free e-news letter that talks about skin care innovations and basic techniques. DDF seems to offer around 4-5 products in each of their Cleanse, Protect and Treat categories.

DDF has broken their product lines up in a very helpful manner. Under each category, potential buyers can select from between four or five products, based on their skin type. Ideally, a new user will walk away with a customized regimen of three skin care products that are best suited for their skin type. This skin care regimen is intended to replicate the effects of invasive anti-aging procedures like Botox or collagen injections. But how well do they work?

Product Details

As we already mentioned, DDF is trying to cater to all clients. This means that their different divisions offer different products intended for different skin types. Whew! Product divisions include sensitive skin, wrinkles, acne, hyperpigmentation and sun damage, Additionally all of these product lines come in both healing and preventive formulations. So how do you figure out which product is right for you? Unfortunately, while DDF does offer plenty of educational reading, a potential user is ultimately left with a self-analysis when selecting their customized skin care regimen. However, the company does have a customer support line to call if you’re really flummoxed.

We couldn’t find any full ingredient lists for any products listed on the company website. This makes it difficult to evaluate what’s in these products, or to scan them for potential allergens.

The Good

  • DDF definitely has a comprehensive company mission statement that applies to any product that they put their name on.
  • Free skin care e-news letter that discusses skin care innovations and offers solid tips.
  • Products come with a free gift, and all DDF products are available via the manufacturer’s official website.

The Bad

  • Full product ingredient lists aren’t posted on the official DDF website.
  • Multi-step product regimen may take a bigger time commitment than you’re ready for.
  • Selecting your three-step product starter kit could be difficult without help.
  • No money back guarantee policy is offered.

The Bottom Line

Taking into account that the market for anti-aging products is rapidly expanding, DDF just don’t do enough to distinguish themselves. This is definitely a solid product in terms of general skin care, but when we’re talking about wrinkles then we’re looking for proprietary ingredients that are going to do something fabulous. We really like DDF’s idea of Cleanse, Protect and Treat, but we think it could be too easy to end up with a combination of products that’s not quite right for you. Also, we’ve seen other products that offer more innovative ingredients but require fewer steps.

Top Choice for 2008:  Dermapril-SP

Dermapril-SP was our favorite product to introduce, with a patented formula and visible results after only two weeks of use. Matrixyl 3000™, the patented active ingredient in Dermapril-SP, is backed by a clinical study showing a reduction in appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by 44%.

Dermapril-SP is based on research into the mechanisms that enable younger skin to appear firmer, tighter and more supple than older people's skin. The treatment helps the skin regain a more youthful appearance by accelerating the natural production of three building blocks: Collagen, Fibronectin and Hyaluronic Acid. The result is a rapid rejuvenation and a dramatically reduced appearance of wrinkles and other signs of age caused by sun exposure, smoking, stress, hormonal changes and other common factors.

Frequent reported benefits include immediate tightening and firming; smoother, softer skin; diminished appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; and rejuvinated, glowing skin. Dermapril-SP is the only product on the market that combines patented Matrixyl 3000™ and green-tea extracts in a hydrating cream. Based on the high cost and quality of the ingredients, Dermapril-SP is reasonably priced. Customer satisfaction is high and Dermapril-SP offers a free trial, so that customers can fully evaluate the product prior to purchasing it.
