The company that sells Comvita Skintensive is based in New Zealand, where they specialize in health products of the highest quality, according to the company website. The Comvita company was founded 35 years ago by Claude Stratford who had a passion for beekeeping since he began tending his first hive when he was just eleven years old. Since then, the company has grown to 100 people, with a line of skin care and health products and a nearly global distribution. We say nearly global, because we had great difficulty finding any distributors of these products to the United States. In fact, even the company website did not appear to ship to this country. We did, however, find numerous websites that sell these products in the UK and it does appear that the company’s online store will ship to numerous countries.

We found the company website rather difficult to navigate and lacking some important information. Shipping details were one of the pieces we had difficulty putting together, but we also found that ingredients lists for the products did not seem to be complete. We also could not find pricing information in US dollars on any site we checked. The lack of information and the lack of a Comvita Skintensive presence in the United States gives us pause and makes us wonder if it would be better for residents of this country to look elsewhere to meet skincare needs.

Product Details

The Comvita Skintensive cream claims to assist in the healing of minor scratches, bumps and bruises, dry and scaly skin and skin itching. The “magic” ingredient in this product is UMF 18+ active manuka honey in a combination with dexapanthenol. According to the company website, this special honey has antibacterial properties that assist in the immune process of the skin. It is this immune function that supposedly makes the ingredient particularly helpful in natural wound healing. Dexapanthenol is vitamin B-5, which is necessary for the production of co-enzyme-A which supplies energy to the cells. It is this process that leads to longevity and rejuvenation of the skin, which is why some may see this product as an anti-aging option. However, in general Comvita Skintensive bilsl itself more as a general skin health product.

There are no proven anti-aging ingredients listed for this product, which makes sense when one considers that this cream is not primarily marketed as such. The main purpose of the Comvita Skintensive cream is to assist in wound healing by affecting the immune function of the skin. There is no evidence to support that this formula will reduce the effects of aging on the skin or diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The Good

  • This product claims to be paraben free and is safe for adults and kids alike with synethic-sensitive skin.
  • The formula is designed to assist in wound healing.

The Bad

  • There are no proven anti-aging ingredients in the Comvita Skintensive cream that we could determine.
  • The website for the company is difficult to navigate and incomplete in information.
  • We could not find an option to ship products to the United States.

The Bottom Line

While the Comvita Skintensive cream may be helpful in assisting in the wound healing process, there is no reason to believe it will be effective as an anti-aging product. We would probably choose a product more dedicated to fighting wrinkles if that was our primary skin concern.
