Clinique is a company that is well known for delivering quality skin care and cosmetics through upscale department stores and online retailers. The company is committed to offering products that are 100% fragrance-free and allergy tested. The Clinique line of products is a long one, with at least 17 items specifically geared to the anti-aging crowd. While we are skeptical of a need for so many choices for a single purpose, we will look at one product in particular for this review; the Clinique Total Turnaround. This product claims to “instantly reveal newer, brighter, livelier skin”. Instantly? Lets take a closer look.

Clinique Total Turnaround is offered on the company website, as well as anywhere else that offers Clinique products. Unfortunately, we could not find any information on the Clinique website about a money back guarantee policy, customer testimonials or free trial offers. With such a wide variety of skin care products to choose from, we would like to see this sort of policy in place to allow consumers to try the different products until they find the right one for their needs. It would also be helpful to be able to read customer testimonials that talk about Clinique Total Turnaround, since this can give an indication of the effectiveness of the product and what benefits it may offer.

We are quite distressed to find that complete ingredient lists are not available for any of the Clinique products, including for Clinique Total Turnaround. With such important information unavailable, we are left wondering whether there might be inferior ingredients in the formula or if there is a concern about possible allergic reactions. We also are in the dark about the so called active ingredients that might be included. While there are some proven anti-aging substances like argireline, matrixyl and collagen in many products touting the ability to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, not all products include such quality ingredients. We do not know whether Clinique Total Turnaround provides any of these proven ingredients or not.

The Bottom Line

Two things concern us about the Clinique anti-aging line of skin care. First, the multitude of products makes it very difficult for a consumer to choose the best formula for her individual needs. Our other concern is with the lack of information regarding each individual product. The vague product descriptions and a complete lack of ingredient lists put the consumer at a distinct disadvantage when shopping for skin care. While Clinique Total Turnaround may be typical in terms of the high quality that Clinique is known for, we have no evidence to support this. We say buyer beware when it comes to Clinique Total Turnaround, and we’re mystified why such a large company wouldn’t offer potential customers more information.
