The term “certitude” can be defined as the removal of all doubt or absolute certainty. It appears that the company who manufactures the Certitude anti-wrinkle line, Methode Jeanne Piaubert, has plenty of confidence in the effectiveness of their products. According to the company website, the Certitude Absolue Expert Anti-Wrinkle Day Care reduced the appearance of wrinkles in 73% of the women who used the product, improved skin’s firmness in 78% and improved the skin’s tone in 86%. We will inspect the formulas in the Certitude line to see if we are as certain of consumer satisfaction as the company claims to be.
In perusing the company website, we were unable to find complete ingredient lists for any of the Certitude anti-wrinkle products. This is an immediate concern, since a lack of ingredient information puts the consumer at an automatic disadvantage in choosing the best products to purchase. The only ingredient that is listed for the Certitude Absolue Expert Anti-Wrinkle Day Care is a “glycol-protective” ingredient. Methode Jeanne Piaubert claims that this substance will protect against the “glycation” process, which is the buildup of toxins and sugars on the dermal fibers. According to the research we have seen on the aging process, wrinkles are caused by a loss of elastin and collagen in the skin that results in thinner, sagging skin and wrinkles. The best remedy for this problem is substances that will help restore youthful elastin and collagen, like matrixyl and fresh collagen. We don’t know if the Certitude product contains either of these.
Other good anti-aging substances include argireline, which has been proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by up to 30%. It does so by relaxing the facial muscles that can contribute to lines and wrinkle. Sodium hyaluronate is an excellent skin hydrator that will help skin to retain moisture and make it look smoother and younger. It does not appear that the Certitude product includes either of these ingredients either.
