  • Retinol is often harsh.

What’s the Skincare Editor’s Take on ROC Retinol Correxion Eye Cream Cream?

“Retinol is a good anti-aging product, but it does cause irritation for some and that could be an issue when applied near the eyes,” says our Skincare Editor.

Here’s What People Are Saying

Some people experienced no results, while others experienced irritation.

  • ”I used ROC religiously, every night, until the tube was bone dry… the bags under my eyes saw little (if any) improvement. While I didn’t have any irritation to the product, it didn’t really help the way I was hoping and the way some reviews claimed it would. What I’ve found from dozens of tests with a number of eye creams, is that there really isn’t a magic bullet for the problems with aging and under-eye circles.”
  • “I haven’t noticed any visible change in wrinkles around my eyes. Since I am 60+ I am thinking these products are geared for younger persons. I have not experienced any redness that often comes when using a retinol product. I will still continue to use twice a day until the tube is used up. I will not purchase again.”

Not everyone feels this way.

  • ”Not a miracle but helpful. Others have a smell that bothers my allergies – this one does not!”
  • “Tried them all. Almost a year. Drug store and many higher end brands. I find this makes a difference.”

Many people experienced side effects.

  • ”This product burned my under eye area and made me peel 🙁 not cool. I only used a little bit and that’s all it took.”
  • “I returned it so I have no idea if it works- it was wayyyy to loaded with fragrance that I couldn’t sleep.”

Thankfully, not everyone experienced these issues.

  • ”I have very sensitive skin on my face….allergic to many facial products but RoC Products work well for me.”
  • “It’s good. I still look old and tired. I actually am old and tired, so what are you going to do? I buy this to say I am making the effort.”

Are We Sold on ROC Retinol Correxion Eye Cream?

While we know retinol is a good anti-aging product, this one seems to be hit or miss because of the fact that some people don’t get results, but others experience harsh side effects with it. Even if the product works, it isn’t worth it if it causes irritation to the eyes.

Vivexin Review

What You Should Know

Vivexin is an anti-aging, eye treatment formulated to lighten dark circles, lessen the appearance of bags under the eyes and minimize fine lines and crow’s feet associated with premature skin aging. The three active ingredients in Vivexin – Haloxyl, Eyeliss and Matrixyl – are backed with clinical research and positive consumer testimonials. If that’s not enough to convince consumers to try Vivexin, the company offers a 90-day money-back guarantee so consumers can see the changes in eye appearance with the option of returning the product if they are not convinced.

Product Details

There is a strong focus on the three active ingredients in Vivexin for good reason. Haloxyl is formulated with three skin-conditioning ingredients that work to hydrate skin around the eye, reduce puffiness and fade pigmentation that causes dark circles. After just 56 days of use, image analysis shows up to a 70% reduction in pigmentation.

Eyeliss supplies the skin around the eyes with an antioxidant and peptides. Antioxidants fight free radical damage – one cause of premature skin aging. Peptides work to promote collagen production. Together these ingredients work to decongest the around the eye to visibly reduce puffiness while leaving skin soft and moisturized.

Rounding out the active ingredients in Vivexin is Matrixyl. Matrixyl is the anti-aging, anti-wrinkle complex in Vivexin. The anti-aging formula is comprised of skin conditioners and peptides aimed at reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles by hydrating the skin and promoting a smoothing effect that takes years off your eyes.

No matter how strong an ingredient list is on paper, consumer testimonials tell the real story behind a product like Vivexin. We found a long list of positive consumer testimonials on the Vivexin website, but it was the consumer testimonials on other websites that sold us on Vivexin. Users report softer skin, reduced puffiness and lightening they didn’t achieve with higher priced products.

The Good

  • The active ingredients are backed with clinical research.
  • All ingredients are safe and effective.
  • Consumer reviews are fantastic.
  • Vivexin comes with a 90-day money-back guarantee.

The Bad

  • None

The Bottom Line

We rarely come across beauty products that live up to claims as effectively as Vivexin. The three active ingredients are formulated with safe and effective ingredients, consumer testimonials rave about the hydrating and anti-aging effects and the money-back guarantee ensures consumers have more than enough time to see the difference before making a final decision.

Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate Review

What You Should Know

Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate is designed to treat all aspects of aging that affect the area around the eye. The lotion, unlike many other eye products, is designed to be applied once or twice daily to the skin around the eye stretching to the temple. The idea is to hydrate and tighten all the skin affecting eye aging at once to lift and rejuvenate. With all the skin around the eye lifted and hydrated, the effects should be more pronounced and the overall treatment should cost less. Consumers can purchase one bottle of Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate with about 0.5 ounces for around $80.

Product Features

The first thing we noticed about the product description for Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate was that parabens and sulfates were not mentioned. Most companies will immediately deny using these ingredients in an attempt to keep the consumer interested. Unfortunately, the formula contains methylparaben, polyparaben and isobutylparaben. If you want to choose a product free of parabens you should skip Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate.

One of the active ingredients in the formula is caffeine. Caffeine is a proven ingredient that tends to work wonders for reducing puffiness around the eye. Puffiness, in some cases, is caused by fluid retention. Caffeine dehydrates the area around the eye so the fluid retention disappears and the eye looks less puffy. Dehydrating the area can lead to dry skin, but Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate contains shea butter and other hydrating ingredients to fight dryness.

The most common complaint about the product is the fact that it simply does not work as claimed. We found pages of reviews from consumers who tried the eye concentrate only to find it neither hydrated nor reduced the signs of aging. The true test of any anti-aging product is consumer review.

The Good

  • Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate is available for sale online.
  • There is a complete list of ingredients available.

The Bad

  • The formula contains parabens.
  • Numerous consumer reviews claim the formula simply does not work.

The Bottom Line

We look at various aspects when reviewing beauty products, including ingredients and consumer reviews. Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate falls flat on both accounts. The ingredient list contains parabens and consumer reviews are less than perfect. There are reports of burning, itching and watery eyes in addition to reports of dryness and ineffectiveness.

Ahava Extreme Firming Eye Cream Review

What You Should Know

If you are in the market for an under-eye treatment, it is very important to pay close attention to the ingredient list that applies to each cream or gel. After all, harsh ingredients like alcohol, artificial fragrance, and chemical preservatives can unfortunately irritate the delicate eye area. So, be sure to read a complete ingredient list for each product you consider. In this review, we are going to hone in on Ahava Extreme Firming Eye Cream. The Ahava brand utilizes Dead Sea minerals in each product they offer. These natural minerals are supposed to help revitalize, heal and nourish the skin.

Product Details

Ahava Extreme Firming Eye Cream is available through the official website, and retails for $54. This formula can be gently applied each morning and night for maximum results. Unlike some under-eye treatments, this cream is directed to be applied around the entire eye, which means on the eyelids as well. This cream endeavors to reduce signs of aging in the eye area, minimize crow’s feet and surface lines, improve skin elasticity, and dramatically increase skin firmness. In other words, you are supposed to be left with a more youthful and lifted eye area.

Red Algae is a key ingredient found in Ahava Extreme Firming Eye Cream. It benefits the eye area by protecting the skin and firming the under-eyes. Shea Butter is a natural moisturizer used in this cream, and Iceland Moss is added to calm the dermis and fight free radical damage. Witch Hazel is used in this under-eye treatment to cleanse the skin, and Goji Berry Fruit Extract helps fend off signs of aging. Dead Sea Algae is also found in Ahava Extreme Firming Eye Cream, and may help relieve redness and irritation.

The Good

  • This eye cream contains moisturizers to hydrate the skin.
  • A few customer testimonials are posted on the main website.

The Bad

  • A large list of ingredients are used in this eye cream, which may increase your chances of having allergic reactions.
  • The cost of Ahava Extreme Firming Eye Cream is high at $54.
  • This formula may not work well on dark circles.
  • Puffiness and bags are not addressed with this under-eye treatment.

The Bottom Line

When all is said and done, Ahava Extreme Firming Eye Cream does offer some unique and interesting ingredients from the Dead Sea. These natural extracts may help fight free radical damage, and even assist with firming the eye area. However, if you are experiencing puffiness and dark circles, you should consider alternative under-eye gels and creams. After all, this cream lacks key ingredients to address these common concerns. Luckily there are alternative products available for less than $54.

Paraguay Tea is also added to H2O Marine Calm Restorative Eye Cream. It contains vitamins like A, C, and E to fight free radical damage, as well as Zinc and Selenium, which help protect the delicate under-eye area. Paraguay Tea is supposed to be more potent than common green tea. Regardless, Japanese Green Tea is the third active ingredient used in this eye cream. This substance offers antioxidants (fights free radicals) and high levels of Vitamin A to improve skin cell turnover. Caffeine is also used in H2O Marine Calm Restorative Eye Cream to minimize puffiness around the eyes.

The Good

  • This under-eye treatment is suitable for sensitive skin types.
  • No parabens or dyes are added to H2O Marine Calm Restorative Eye Cream.

The Bad

  • Two types of alcohol are used in this eye cream, which may cause skin dryness.
  • Only one customer testimonial is posted for this skincare product.
  • No before and after photos are presented on the official website for H2O Marine Calm Restorative Eye Cream.

The Bottom Line

If you are a woman with sensitive skin, then H2O Marine Calm Restorative Eye Cream may be a decent under-eye treatment to try. After all, it does contain moisturizers, as well as antioxidants to fight damaging free radicals. On the downside, this eye cream also contains two types of alcohol, which could lead to skin dryness. Be sure to check into several under-eye creams, gels, and serums before deciding on one.

Boscia Restorative Eye Treatment Review

What You Should Know

There are some ingredients that are becoming more and more taboo for skin care. One of these is chemical preservatives or parabens. According to some skin care experts, parabens can lead to health concerns and skin irritations. Well, one skin care brand that offers preservative-free products is Boscia. This line was created by a Japanese entrepreneur in 2002. His name is Kenji Ikemori, and he claims to use the latest scientific research in Boscia products. These skin care products are geared toward women of all skin types. Harsh chemicals and animal ingredients are not used in these products either. The formula we will focus on is Boscia Restorative Eye Treatment, which is okay for any women with under-eye puffiness and bags.

Product Details

Boscia Restorative Eye Treatment endeavors to diminish under-eye puffiness and bags. This is a condition that is commonly causes by lack of rest, late nights, genetics, and water retention in the skin. While this formula aims to hydrate the delicate dermis around the eyes, it also protects the skin from future damage. Boscia Restorative Eye Treatment is described as very emollient, and sells for $48 through select online dealers.

If you are interested in firming your eye area, and reducing heavy bags, Boscia Restorative Eye Treatment may have the ingredients to assist you. It contains Complex Peptides (minimizes puffiness, while smoothing out surface lines), Jojoba Leaf (protects the skin, reduces inflammation and irritation), Sodium Hyaluronate (binds moisture to the dermis to improve hydration), Willowherb Extract (counteracts environmental aggressors that age the skin), and Vitamin E (fends off free radical damage). This under-eye treatment can be used in the AM and PM for maximum results.

The Good

  • The key ingredients are addressed for Boscia Restorative Eye Treatment.
  • Vitamin E is used in this eye cream to combat free radicals.
  • It is sold in a convenient pump container.

The Bad

  • There are two types of alcohol found in this product, which may cause dryness.
  • This under-eye formula may irritate the eye area of some users.
  • Boscia Restorative Eye Treatment does not address dark circles.
  • A large list of ingredients is used in this product, which may concern some users.

The Bottom Line

One thing that should be addressed is that Boscia Restorative Eye Treatment does not combat dark circles. This is a common concern of many women, and may be a deal breaker. On the plus side, this under-eye treatment does offer moisturizers and antioxidants to improve the skin. However, it also contains two types of alcohol, which may counteract the moisturizers. Although peptides are used in Boscia Restorative Eye Treatment to assist with crow’s feet, there are other under-eye creams and serums available that offer more active ingredients to assist the eye area.

DermaNew Firming Eye Cream Review

What You Should Know

DermaNew is a skin care company that was founded by Amby Longhofer and Dean Rhoades. This brand first began with a salon and spa. Since the founders and owners provided Microdermabrasion treatments, they soon realized that a personal or at-home Microdermabrasion device made sense. This is how the product line got started. At this point, DermaNew offers topical skincare products for anti-aging, sensitive skin, acne/oil, combination skin, total body care, and dry/dull skin. The formula we will examine further in this review is DermaNew Firming Eye Cream, which can be obtained directly through the main website for $30.

Product Details

No one likes crow’s feet, dark circles, and fine lines appearing around their eyes. Well, DermaNew Firming Eye Cream is claimed to help remedy these concerns. Like most under-eye balms, serums, gels, and creams, this product is simply dabbed gently around the eye area twice each day. It should help combat dryness, free radical damage, and common signs of aging, such as wrinkles and sagging skin. Unfortunately there are no customer testimonials or before and after photos provided on the primary website.

Three major ingredients are addressed for DermaNew Firming Eye Cream. These are Green Tea Extract, Shea Butter, and Pentapeptide-3. Green Tea is used in this eye cream to soothe tired skin and fend off harmful free radicals. Shea Butter is a moisturizer that is added to soften, smooth out lines, and hydrate dry skin. As for Pentapeptide-3, this substance is incorporated to combat fine lines and wrinkles that come with age. This anti-aging eye treatment is stated to be free of irritating fragrances. DermaNew Firming Eye Cream appears to be okay for all skin types.

The Good

  • Moisturizers are used in DermaNew Firming Eye Cream.

  • It is sold in a convenient pump container.

  • This under-eye treatment does not assist with puffiness and bags.
  • No user reviews are provided on the main website.

The Bottom Line

Many women and men might find an under-eye cream or gel formula helpful when it comes to fighting signs of aging. After all, this is the part of your face where the first signs of aging tend to emerge. In regards to DermaNew Firming Eye Cream, it is nice to see that this product contains moisturizers and vitamins to nourish the skin. However, it does not contain any key ingredients to combat puffiness, which may concern some potential users. This product also contains chemical preservatives, which may irritate the eye area.

CosMedix Opti Crystal Eye Serum Review

What You Should Know

One skin care line you may not be familiar with is CosMedix. After all, this brand is difficult to find in common department stores. According to the official website, this company specializes in both preventative and corrective treatments for the skin. The products offered by this brand are “clinical-grade,” and available through online distributors. Some common key ingredients used in CosMedix products are DHEA, Spin Trap, Tea Tree Oil, and Peptides. We are going to focus on one skin care treatment, which is CosMedix Opti Crystal Eye Serum. It is available online for $89 (.25 ounces), and is sold in a pump container.

Product Details

CosMedix Opti Crystal Eye Serum is applied to the delicate eye area day and/or night in order to firm up the eye area and reduce signs of aging, such as surface lines and crow’s feet. Unfortunately this formula does not address dark circles beneath the eyes. Antioxidants are used in this product to fight off free radical damage, and over time you should be left with a tighter and more revitalized eye area. This formula is geared toward anyone who is grappling with signs of aging around the eyes.

Spin Trap is a major ingredient found in CosMedix Opti Crystal Eye Serum. It is actually a potent antioxidant that fends off free radicals, while detoxifying the skin. Growth Factors are used in this serum to encourage healing and repairs, while Alpha Lipoic Acid is added to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Copper Gluconate is another key ingredient, and it assists by boosting elastin levels and promoting collagen production. CosMedix Opti Crystal Eye Serum also contains Liquid Crystals to address thin and damaged skin around the eyes.

The Good

  • All ingredients used in this skin care product are posted online.
  • A few customer testimonials can be found on distributor websites.
  • No parabens are used in CosMedix Opti Crystal Eye Serum.

The Bad

  • This under-eye treatment contains half as much product as most under-eye creams and gels.
  • This anti-aging formula may irritate the under-eye area of some users.
  • Some users have stated that this formula is very sticky.
  • This product does not address dark circles, which may concern some users.
  • The cost of this under-eye serum is $89.

The Bottom Line

When choosing an under-eye treatment, you should consider a number of options. It is clear that CosMedix Opti Crystal Eye Serum contains some unique ingredients to address damage around the eyes. Then again, this formula is described as sticky by some users, and sells for a whopping $89 per bottle. Not to mention, you only get .25 ounces of product when you purchase this serum. This will likely go quickly, and it does not even address dark circles.

Yumei Review

Overview

Yumei is marketed by a company called Lipsticknet. The product in the Yumei line that we will be focusing on is the Yumei UV Whitening Line Stop Firming Eye Cream. In this review we are going to examine the ingredients in order to determine whether or not this product can actually firm up the wrinkles that gather around the eye area.

Product Details

First, we will look at the ingredients that are claimed to be in this product. Then, we will take a more in depth view of what the possibilities of these ingredients working together to be an effective anti-wrinkle agent are. The website claims that is has a so -called special complex formula. This formula contains Gingko Extracts, Scutellaria Baicalensis Extract, Ginseng Extract, Squalane and Jojoba.

The Gingko Extracts that are in this product have not been found to have any scientific proof that it actually works as a skin firming agent. There have been claims that it can be used as a powerful antioxidant. Contrary to this there are many people that claim that it has worked for them. Ginseng Extract is another well known supplement that was introduced to America through the Asian culture. Although it is said o reduce wrinkles, it is not apparent exactly how it does work. As far as it is known to us, there are no clinical studies to back up this claim.

While the ingredient Scutellaria Baicalensis Extract has shown to have positive effect on a few neurological disorders, there is still no evidence supporting the idea of it being a wrinkle reducing agent. Then, we have Squalane. While there may be proof that Squalane could be a great moisturizer, its role in smoothing out fine lines is uncertain at this time. Last, but not least, we have Jojoba. Jojoba is derived from the Jojoba plant that is native to western United States. Jojoba has been used for years by the Native Americans not only as a type of skin care, but to also for medicinal purposes. It contains a variety of complex vitamins and minerals and is said to be so close to the original make up of the human skin that it can prevent skin from becoming too oily. However, there is still no scientific proof to back up the claim of it being used as an anti-wrinkle product.

It is thought that it is a good possibility that more ingredients could be found in this product, but there is was no information found that could reveal what the other possible ingredients could be.

The Good

  • Seems to contain many vitamins and minerals that could promote some type of healthy skin care.
  • Appears to be good for all skin types, even sensitive skin.

The Bad

  • Ingredients seem to be lacking clinical evidence in the area of wrinkle reduction.
  • It appears as though all of the ingredients may not be disclosed in the advertisement of this product.

The Bottom Line

While most all of the ingredients seem to contain healthy benefits, and the idea that is presented in the advertisement sounds good, we can’t help but notice the lack of scientific proof that someone could base these ideas on. Most women will probably look elsewhere, particularly at those products that contain clinically proven ingredients, when choosing a anti-aging product that can best suit their needs.

Ultima II Extraordinaire Review

Overview

Ultima II Extraordinaire is a anti-aging eye cream that claims to tone down dark eye circles and discolored skin through its formula, making fine lines disappear. Fragrance-free, this eye cream does seem ideal for most consumers, and even features a patented diamond concentrate that is not found in any other brand. Ultima II emphasizes this concentrate helps boost elasticity in skin cells, allowing for a more youthful appearance. Of course this concentrate does not make this cream cheap — expect to pay around $90.00 — and there is so little information available about this product that it is not clear what else in contained in their eye cream. Consumers do want to be informed about the products they purchase, and withholding this information could make them choose a more suitable product.

Nevertheless, Ultima II’s diamond patented products have been around since the turn of the century, and the allure still appears to be there. What appears not to be there are outstanding testimonials or smaller sizes for test purchasing. These factors definitely impact a consumer’s desire to purchase this product, and hidden facts about its diamond concentrate are not necessarily beneficial either.

Product Details

Because an ingredient list could not be located, we will focus on its diamond concentrate, which claims to boost cell production and allow collagen to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dark undereye circles. Currently no studies indicate a connection with increased collagen production and the use of diamonds — in fact, no studies have even looked into the diamond’s ability to produce any sort of skin-related effects. There are only smaller unofficial studies showing that using diamonds in microdermabrasions may help exfoliate the skin better than typical crystal formulations, but these do not provide any benefits for eliminating undereye circles or crow’s feet. The safety of this formula is questioned also, since diamond is a very hard substance and may present a risk if used around the affected eye area.

There are currently only mild exfoliating benefits associated with diamonds in this instance — no other benefits have been discovered yet.

The Good

  • May help exfoliate the skin.
  • Is from a popular line of diamond cosmetics.

The Bad

  • No studies show that diamonds help reduce the appearance of undereye circles.
  • The safety of its cream is debated.
  • There are many other products that offer more benefits for a lesser price.

The Bottom Line

Ultima II Extraordinaire claims to de-age the surrounding eye area with its specific diamond concentration, but actual studies do not exist proving these claims. While having a specialized cream is a plus, it must also provide provable benefits — and without any claims proven thus far, this may cause consumers to be less trustworthy of its product. The simple allure of diamonds will probably cause many consumers to try this product regardless of its effectiveness, however.

OcuDerma Review

Overview

OcuDerma is an “ocular skin therapy gel” that aims to benefit the eye area. Although there doesn’t appear to be an official website for this treatment, it is available for purchase online, and comes in a 0.5-ounce tube that sells for around $17. OcuDerma was apparently developed by a licensed ophthalmologist and optometrist. This non-oily gel treatment is translucent and suitable for all common skin types. The purpose of OcuDerma is to assist with dark circles, minimize crow’s feet, reduce under-eye puffiness, hydrate, and tighten the delicate under-eye skin.

As revealed online, OcuDerma is claimed to be manufactured with the “highest quality ingredients.” There are a number of active ingredients incorporated into OcuDerma gel to potentially help with restoring and maintaining youth to the user’s eye area. These ingredients are Sodium Hyaluronate (keeps moisture in the skin), Squalane (adds moisture to skin), Tocopherol (combats free radical damage), Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Retinyl Palmitate (antioxidant), Corn Oil (softens skin), Cholecalciferol (assists with cell growth), Chamomile Extract (soothes skin), Ascorbic Acid, Cornflower Extract (minimizes redness), beta-Carotene (increases elasticity), Bisabolol (reduces puffiness), Panthenol (strengthens skin), Lecithin (hydrates), Malic Acid (exfoliates), Glycolic Acid (helps with skin cell turnover), and Lactic Acid (removes dead skin cells). OcuDerma gel is free of fragrances and dyes.

Product Details

OcuDerma gel is essentially a topical treatment that’s claimed to restore youth to the eye area or under-eye skin. When utilized daily after cleansing, this product may assist with anything from crow’s feet, to puffiness, to dry skin, to dark circles, to sagging and anti-aging. OcuDerma should be applied to the under-eye area with the fingertips, morning and night. The product may take a minute to absorb completely. OcuDerma is not supposed to lead to any allergic reactions. Unfortunately there are currently no testimonials presented on this product. A money-back guarantee is not offered for OcuDerma gel.

The Good

  • OcuDerma under-eye gel is suitable for all common skin types.
  • The ingredients for this topical treatment are presented where OcuDerma is sold online.
  • OcuDerma is claimed to be free of all fragrances, irritants and dyes.

The Bad

  • There is no official website at this time for OcuDerma under-eye gel.
  • It’s not clarified whether or not there is a refund option with OcuDerma, therefore there probably isn’t.
  • No customer testimonials are provided for OcuDerma where this product is sold.
  • Clinical trials, graphs and/or data are not offered to help support the claims made about this under-eye gel.
  • Clearly, this only affects the under-eye area.

The Bottom Line

There are so many facial treatments at your disposal these days. This can certainly make it difficult for people to pinpoint exactly what they need. The same is true about under-eye therapy creams and gels. Although OcuDerma sounds ideal when discussed on websites that sell the product, so many other topical eye gels and creams are pitched in the same fashion. Some issues to consider when purchasing OcuDerma gel are the lack of a refund guarantee and testimonials. These factors may be a red flag for some individuals.

Jericho Mineral Serum Review

Overview

The Jericho Mineral Serum is one of the main anti-aging products manufactured by the company Jericho Spa. There is an official website for the skin care products within the company’s range. We are told that the Jericho Mineral Serum contains an advanced complex of revitalizing and anti-aging components and vitamins, based primarily on the key active ingredients Dead Sea Minerals and Seaweed.

Product Details

The official website tells us that you should apply a few drops of the Jericho Mineral serum to the face and neck in the morning and evening, and that you should pay particular attention to the area around the eyes and mouth. We are told that the Jericho Mineral Serum will have the greatest effect if it is used in conjunction with the Jericho Eye Gel. The Jericho Mineral Serum can be ordered directly from the official website at a price of $35. You can also subscribe to a regular e-newsletter via the website. Of course, the Jericho Mineral Eye Serum is not the only anti-aging product on the market with seaweed and Dead Sea Minerals as its main active ingredients.

The official website does not give us information as to what makes the Jericho Mineral Serum more effective than other anti-aging products with similar ingredients. The products within the Jericho Spa range can be ordered directly from the official website. There is a 100% money back guarantee upon purchase of the Jericho Mineral Serum. Unfortunately the Jericho Mineral Serum contains parabens. A number of cancer experts believe that parabens contribute to certain cancers, and dermatologists have also linked them to skin irritation.

The Good

  • There is an official website for the Jericho Spa range of skin care products.
  • We know that seaweed, which is one of the main active ingredients in the Jericho Mineral Serum, has beneficial properties for the skin.
  • There is a 100% money back guarantee and you can subscribe to a regular newsletter via the official website.

The Bad

  • The Jericho Mineral Serum is not the only anti-aging product on the market that contains seaweed.
  • The Jericho Mineral Serum contains parabens which are thought by some to be carcinogenic.
  • We are given no information as to what makes the Jericho Mineral Serum more effective than other similar products.
  • There is no offer of a free trial sample via the official website.

The Bottom Line

We know that seaweed and Dead Sea Minerals contain beneficial properties for the skin. However the Jericho Mineral Serum is not the only anti-aging product to contain these ingredients. We have no information as to what makes it superior to other anti-aging products that contain these ingredients. Furthermore, the Jericho Mineral Serum contains parabens and we prefer not to commit to using products with parabens.

EyeTuck Review

Overview

EyeTuck is a product that is designed to be used around the delicate eye area with the specific purpose of reducing under eye bags within a matter of weeks. The product is made by the Australian skin care company Skin Doctors, which offers two other eye care products in its regimen. We are somewhat disappointed to find that each eye cream performs a separate and unique function, leaving a consumer to purchase multiple products to reap the full anti-aging benefits from this line for the small, around-the-eye problem area.

EyeTuck is offered for sale through the Skin Doctors website and through a number of online retailers. It is important to note that customers in the United States cannot order through the company website and many of the online retailers are located in different countries as well. This might pose a bit of a challenge to US customers who are interested in purchasing any of the Skin Doctors line of products such as EyeTuck. We were also unable to find a money back guarantee or customer testimonials on the company website. We believe that companies that provide this information show confidence in their products and allow consumers to shop with the same confidence, so it is troubling not to see it prominently posted.

Product Details

We are pleased that Skin Doctors discloses a full ingredient list for EyeTuck. That list includesL Water (Aqua), Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Isopropyl Myristate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Polysorbate 60, Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Triethanolamine, Sorbitan Stearate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Carbomer, Disodium EDTA.

Acetyl tetrapeptide-5 is a common ingredient in eye creams because it is designed to reduce puffiness around the eyes. However, there are other peptide complexes like acetyl hexapeptide-3 (argireline), which can relax facial muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles. Another good peptide complex for an anti-aging formula is palmitoyl pentapeptide-4, which is also known as matrixyl. This substance can stimulate the production of collagen in the skin, which can also lead to a reduction in the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The EyeTuck formula does not contain either of these.

The Good

  • The product is available to some customers on the company website and through online retailers.

The Bad

  • The EyeTuck formula does not contain any proven anti-aging formulas.
  • We could not find customer testimonials to back the claims of the product.
  • There did not appear to be a money back guarantee available on purchases.
  • EyeTuck does not appear to be as readily available in the United States.

The Bottom Line

EyeTuck is a product with a very specific goal; to reduce under eye bags. While we appreciate that this is a concern for many women who are worried about the effects of aging, it is certainly not the only concern. We prefer a product with quality, proven ingredients that can address a host of aging concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. There are many good products on the market that are more versatile and more effective, although EyeTuck could be what you’re looking for if this is your only skin care concern.

Dermagen Review

Are you at least a little curious about Dermagen?

Dermagen Labs is the name of a company operating under AmexDrug, a pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical business. It’s also the name of an anti-aging eye serum and patch. It doesn’t appear that there are any direct products from the labs as they are only associated with private labeling. Though the founding may have been earlier, the official website was opened in 2008.

What is Dermagen?

The first Dermagen we came in contact with is the private labeling company under AmexDrug. The second, and likely the more popular, is an eye serum that contains vitamin C, Syn-Coll and Regu-Age. It’s supposed to smooth skin and eliminate dark circles, but without a complete ingredient list or official website, we’ve no idea if clinical testing has been completed or if there are irritants in the mix.

Quick Facts on Dermagen

  • There are multiple products and a company with the same name.
  • There is no official website for the anti-aging serum.
  • We did not find a complete list of ingredients.
  • Pricing is unavailable.
  • Available with a trial offer associated with an auto-ship program.

What’s Our Skincare Editor’s Take on Dermagen?

“We have a lot of questions about Dermagen, including a few about the ingredient list,” says our Skincare Editor. “We need an official website, or at least a source of more detailed information to make an educated decision.”

Here’s What People Are Saying

One issue we found deals with the trial offer, auto-ship program and cancellations.

  • “When he kept on, I just continued to say “No, NO, NO!” until he agreed to cancel my order. I asked for a cancellation number to protect myself.”
  • “They charge full price for the trial after 14 days and it is not clear that this will happen. I cancelled but was not able to get a refund even on unopened packages.”

We also found a few people who received products, but they never ordered them.

  • “I did not order this! Just collected my mail as usual and 2 pkgs from them w/ 2 different products.”
  • “I too am having problems with this company sending me 2 separate products that I did not order! It is so upsetting to me that this is happening.”

We were unable to find a single positive review for Dermagen.

Are We Sold on Dermagen?

Well, we can’t say that we are 100% certain this is the product that will work once and for all. There is no official website, a complete list of ingredients is not available and we were unable to find any positive reviews. These are enough to give us pause.

What Do We Suggest?

We’ve reviewed hundreds of products in 2016 and the best we’ve found is BioGeniste. It’s formulated with clinically tested ingredients and user reviews are out of this world positive.

Youthology Review

Overview

Youthology is a line of beauty products created specifically for use around the eyes. The official website claims you will “Look up to 10 years younger in 90 seconds!”. The Youthology line of products is manufactured by the Youthology Research Institute, which is based in Encino, CA. At the time of this review, Youthology currently has four products available and these are the Youthology Ninety Second Wrinkle Removing Eye Serum with Active Rejuvatin, Youthology Daytime Nourisher, Nighttime Nourisher, Rich Collagen Repairing Mask, and Radiance Mask.

The wrinkle serum was created for use around the eyes and is the dominant product on the official website. It claims to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles in the eye and cheek area, erase crow’s feet, get rid of bags and puffiness around the eyes, and to last for up to 8 hours.

Product Details

The official Youthology website says that the active ingredient in the wrinkle removing eye serum is Active Rejuvatin which claims to be a “clinically optimized” substance that “suspends” your skin. Unfortunately, the official website doesn’t go into any more detail than that about what Active Rejuvatin is. The key ingredients are listed on the product description page and they are: Echinacea Angustifolia (Coneflower) Extract and Centella Asiatica (Gotu Cola) Extract.

The other products in the Youthology line seem very similar and also seem to be designed to work together if you want the maximum results. This means you will have to purchase all four products plus the “bonus” lip line reducer. Each product costs around $40 so you will spend well over $140 to get them all. We like how the official website is set up and here are some testimonials available on the official site and that is always a plus. The lack of any proven wrinkle fighting ingredients really puts us off, however, and there isn’t a full list of ingredients for any product.

The Good

  • The official Youthology website has quite a few testimonials and some before and after pictures.

The Bad

  • The Youthology products don’t contain any powerful and proven wrinkle fighters.
  • You need to purchase all of the products to use together if you want to see maximum results from Youthology.
  • Each product costs around $40.00, making a set fairly expensive.

The Bottom Line

The Youthology line of products come in a very nice package and the website is very pleasing to the eyes. Unfortunately, that’s where the good points seem to end. The 90 second eye serum contains echinacea and gotu cola as its active ingredients and there isn’t much research to prove that these will help with wrinkles at all. We do like the testimonials and before and after pictures but there just isn’t enough real information presented to let us recommend Youthology products at this time. Instead, we’d recommend sticking with a more well-known wrinkle cream that contains numerous anti-aging ingredients working together in one package.

Prevage Review

Overview

Prevage is a product of Allergan, a company that brings us many other health care products in the fields of eye care, medical dermatology and cosmetic treatments. In 2005, Allergan added Prevage MD to its list of products, “an innovative anti-aging treatment representing the next generation of topical antioxidants,” as the company website explains. While Prevage MD is only available through your doctor, you can buy an over the counter version called simply Prevage, which is sold under the Elizabeth Arden name and can be found online and in stores. The active ingredient in both products is identical; it is the amount of this active ingredient found in the formula that is the big difference between the prescription and non-prescription strength.

Prevage claims to correct the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, protect the skin from environmental stressors (also known as free radicals), and enhance the appearance of the skin. The Prevage MD website provides testimonials and before and after photos to support the effectiveness of the product. We were unable to find information on the company website or on the Prevage MD website about any sort of money back guarantee on purchases. At the time of this review, a one-ounce quantity of Prevage MD carries a suggested retail price of $115.

Product Details

The active ingredient in both Prevage and Prevage MD is idebenone, a powerful antioxidant that can correct and protect skin cells, according to the Prevage MD website. Prevage MD contains 1% idebenone, while Prevage has a concentration of .5%. The website also states that clinical studies on idebenone have resulted in 72% of the people using it reporting a reduction in lines and wrinkles, 78% reporting a reduction of roughness and dryness and 94% reporting an improvement in softness and smoothness. These results were seen after just four weeks of use.

We were unable to find a complete ingredient list for either product on the company or product websites, but we did locate listings at some of the online retailers. Besides the idebenone, we found sodium hyaluronate in the ingredients, which is a proven anti-aging substance. However, while idebenone is an effective ingredient for improving the overall appearance of the skin, the jury is still out on whether the substance can effectively diminish fine lines and wrinkles.

The Good

  • The product is well advertised on both the company and product websites.
  • Prevage contains an effective antioxidant, idebenone, in the formula.

The Bad

  • The complete ingredient list is not listed on either the company or the product website.
  • The product is expensive.
  • There is no money back guarantee that we could find.

The Bottom Line

If you are interested in protecting your skin from the harmful effects of free radicals, a high quality antioxidant product like Prevage may be worth a try. On the other hand, if you are looking for something to reduce the appearance of existing fine lines and wrinkles, there may be better, less expensive products available. Some products may even combine wrinkle reducing and protective ingredients, which it appears Prevage does not.

ProVectin Review

Overview

ProVectin is a product that bills itself as a “value alternative” to StriVectin SD which is distributed by Klein-Becker USA, LLC. ProVectin is sold at many large retail stores as well as drug stores and third-party beauty and skincare websites. ProVectin claims to eliminate wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes, help get rid of dark circles and reduce puffiness.

The eye area is a major concern for a lot of people and this product claims to be the solution to most problems around the eyes. ProVectin is manufactured and distributed by a company called Skin Essentials but there are dozens of companies with that same name and we were unable to find the true manufacturer’s website at the time of this review.

Product Details

ProVectin contains many different peptides which may help relax the muscles around the eyes and could lead to a smoother appearance. There isn’t much information given about what the peptides are and what they do but we assume they probably have similar properties to Argireline, a popular peptide-based wrinkle fighter.

ProVectin also contains hyuralonic acid which is a well known moisturizer that may help keep your skin moist for many hours at a time. Hyaluronic acid is one of the most common ingredients found in wrinkle creams today because of its powerful moisturizing properties.

ProVectin retails for about $20 on most of the websites we checked out and the standard size of the bottle is 1.3 ounces. Since we can’t find an official website, you will have to view individual sites or retail stores if you want information pertaining to return policies and guarantees.

The Good

  • ProVectin contains hyaluronic acid, a well known and powerful moisturizer.
  • ProVectin contains numerous peptides which may be beneficial as wrinkle fighters.

2

The Bad

  • We can’t find the official website for Skin Essentials, the manufacturer, at this time.
  • There are no customer testimonials available for this product.
  • This product may irritate the skin of some people. You are recommended to test it in a non-visible area before a full application.
  • Return policies and satisfaction guarantees vary greatly from site to site.

The Bottom Line

If you have used StriVectin SD and were satisfied with the results, you might want to give ProVectin a try to see if it works just as good. ProVectin is pretty much a generic version of StriVectin but as with any generic product, it may or may not work in the same way. Since this product is cheaper than its name brand counterpart, it couldn’t hurt to pick it up if you are really concerned about the area around your eyes but if you are looking for a complete anti-wrinkle solution, you will probably have to keep looking.

Haloxyl Review

Overview

Haloxyl is essentially a component that’s incorporated into some modern skin care treatments. The company that developed this substance is called Sederma, and was founded in 1964. The official website states that they specialize in natural ingredients, that are extracted from vegetables, in addition to molecular synthesis, as well as biotechnology. The ingredient Haloxyl is claimed to minimize the appearance of dark under eye circles. There are two products addressed on the website that contain Haloxyl. These are an Eye Gel and Eye Cream. It’s difficult to determine what other treatments may offer this component.

Similar to many contemporary active ingredients found in cosmetics, Haloxyl is stated to be synthetic. Other than reducing the appearance of dark circles under the eyes, there are no other benefits addressed concerning Haloxyl. Moreover, customer testimonials concerning this key component are not presented on the official website. However, the website does claim that certain testing has been done on the ingredient. Unlike many cosmetic/skin care product manufacturing companies, Sederma seems to be more of a testing laboratory. They additionally take credit for developing other respected ingredients such as Dermaxyl, Matrixyl 3000, Oxylastil and Biopeptide CL. Although free trial samples of eye cream/gel containing Haloxyl are not available through the website, a convenient contact link is offered.

Product Details

Haloxyl is an active ingredient found in certain skin care remedies. Two products noted on the official Sederma website are an Eye Cream and an Eye Gel. Basically Haloxyl is an added component that aims to assist users by reducing dark under eye circles, which are commonly related to lack of sleep, genetics and diet. In regards to a money-back guarantee, this would depend on the company offering the product. It is not specified on the website whether or not Haloxyl is only suitable for women or men. Although clinical testing has apparently been done, it is not possible for curious consumers to view this data on the Sederma website.

The Good

  • There is an actual official website available for Haloxyl.
  • There have been clinical studies done for Haloxyl.
  • Haloxyl endeavors to minimize the appearance of dark circles.
  • The official Sederma website that produces Haloxyl, has additionally developed other key ingredients, which are noted on the website.

The Bad

  • There are no customer testimonials found on the website for products that contain Haloxyl.
  • It’s tough to determine if Haloxyl will cause an allergic reaction in some users, especially since it’s applied to the sensitive eye area.
  • There do not appear to be very many skin care products that contain the active ingredient Haloxyl.
  • Free trial samples of eye care products containing Haloxyl are not offered on the website.
  • Clinical studies are not found on the official website, but the site claims that they’ve been done.

The Bottom Line

Like many new-age “active” ingredients, Haloxyl is claimed to do something desirable. Unfortunately it’s difficult to tell if Haloxyl actually gets rid of dark circles. In reality, different users will likely have different reactions to the key ingredient. Since it’s difficult to determine if treatments containing Haloxyl will benefit you, it would be nice to see some actual trial samples offered via the website. However, there do not appear to be any available at this time, nor are there any customer testimonials or warnings pertaining to Haloxyl.
