Overview

Benedetta claims to offer "holistic skin care formulated to purify, balance and rejuvenate". The product line uses essential oils that vary depending on the specific skin condition the product is formulated to treat. The company was started by Julia Faller, a licensed esthetician who began researching and experimenting with essential oils more than twenty years ago. Ten years later, her passion evolved into the Benedetta Fresh Aromatherapeutic Skin Care line. At the time of this review, the company offers a cleanser, three facial mists and moisturizers, two intensive treatment oils, a seaweed mask and a blemish treatment.

The Benedetta products offer different solutions for a variety of skin care issues. The prices are fairly reasonable for products that contain essential oils and the company does offer a money back guarantee. For the purpose of this review, we will examine one specific family of products; the Visibly Radiant Moisturizers. These moisturizers claim to create smoother, more supple skin while diminishing the signs of wrinkles. There are three formulas under the umbrella of the Visibly Radiant Moisturizers line; one for dry and sensitive skin, one for normal to oily skin and another for all skin types. All three are designed to "nourish, purify and protect" the skin, according to the company website.

Product Details

The ingredient list for the Visibly Radiant Moisturizers are as follows; Organic Aloe Vera, Nourishing Blend of Plant Oils including a CO2 extract of Rose Hips Seed, Fruit Acids, Biodynamic / Organic or Eco-Harvested Essential Oils and Essential Oil Waxes. While these ingredients may be healthy for skin in a number of ways, we do not see anything on the list that is a proven anti-aging ingredient.

Ingredients like argireline and matrixyl 3000 are known anti-aging products that have been proven to reduce the signs of aging. Argireline has been shown to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by up to 30%. Matrixyl will reduce the look of lines and wrinkles and plump the skin by stimulating the production of collagen, a substance in the skin that is lost as we age. Other good, wrinkle fighting ingredients include collagen and hyaluronic acid. All of these substances are even more effective if they are used in combination with one another. None of these ingredients are listed as included in the Benedetta moisturizers.

The Bottom Line

Natural is always a good buzzword in skin care products, and the Benedetta line includes many high quality ingredients and essential oils. This is likely to make Benedetta a good choice for general skin health care. However, if you are looking for a real way to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, there may be better ingredients and choices out there.
