Babor is a company "dedicated to beauty in the sphere of professional cosmetics," according to the company website. Located in Florida, this company has a number of product lines that it offers, focusing on top-of-the-line cosmetics created from a combination of state-of-the-art science and natural formulas. The Babor Vita Balance line consists of day and night creams, lipid capsules, a concentrate and a mask. A complete travel-sized set of the products is also offered by the company. The products in the Vita Balance line are formulated specifically "for skin lacking moisture," and are all designed for dry skin types.

It appears that the primary function of Babor products is to provide sufficient moisture to dry skin. In the process of hydrating the skin's surface, Babor Vita also claim to reduce the look of fine lines and bring about a more radiant complexion. They also state that the effects of light-induced aging may be delayed. We are assuming this is due to antioxidants in the formula that can protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun. However, antioxidants alone are not sufficient for turning back the clock on your skin by diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.

Product Details

The ingredient list for each of the Babor Vita Balance products is long, leading us to wonder if too many ingredients in the formula might spoil the effects. Both the day and night cream contain sodium hyaluronate, which has been shown to be an effective skin hydrator that can effectively diminish the look of fine lines as it smoothes and moisturizes the skin. We were interested to see that sodium hyaluronate was actually listed as an inactive ingredient, while the active ingredients (Mexico Honey, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Wheat Proteins, Vitamin E), have not been shown to be particularly effective in reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles or creating a more youthful appearance.

While sodium hyaluronate is a good hydrator that can reduce some of the more subtle lines on the face, it is a much more effective ingredient when it is paired with proven anti-wrinkle products like argireline, which have been shown to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by 30%, or with the peptide matrixyl 3000. Neither of these ingredients is listed for any of the Babor Vita Balance products. We believe that skin care that comes with a higher price tag, like the Babor Vita Balance line, should provide the highest quality and the most effective anti-aging ingredients available to ensure consumers get the best value and results for their money.
