Aveeno is all about using natural ingredients in all of their skin care products, and the Positively Ageless line is no exception. These products claim that they can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and brighten the skin. There are a number of products in the Aveeno Positively Ageless line, including a cleanser, rejuvenating serum, eye serum, day cream and night moisturizer. The products can be purchased from a wide range of discount and beauty supply stores, and from online retailers. While we were unable to find a policy regarding a money back guarantee on the Aveeno website, we did find an offer for a free sample and coupon for the Lifting and Firming Night Cream at the time of this review.
While natural ingredients are always a plus in skin care products, not everything that touts itself as natural is the best choice for diminishing lines and wrinkles and giving the skin a younger appearance overall. While we are confident that the Aveeno line will promote healthy skin, we will take an in-depth look at whether it can make good on its anti-aging promises.

We were not able to find complete ingredient lists on the company website at the time of the review. However, we did find online retailers that supplied this information. According to one particular retail site, the ingredients in the Aveeno Rejuvenating Serum include: Water, CyclopentaSiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Crosspolymer, Cyclohexasiloxane, Glycerin, C12 15 Alkyl Benzoate, PPG 10 Cetyl Ether, Steareth 21, Cetyl Alcohol, Ganoderma Lucidum Stem Extract (Mushroom), Lentinula Edodes Extract (Shiitake Mushroom), Mucor Miehei Extract, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Polyacrylate 13, Cetyl Hydroxyethylcellulose, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Polyisobutene, Fragrance, Sodium Citrate, 1,2 Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Calcium Chloride, Butylene Glycol, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Polysorbate 20, Algae Extract, May Contain: Citric Acid.
There are a couple of different mushrooms in this Aveeno formula that we found particularly interesting. While mushroom is used in a number of skin care products, and has been touted as an anti-aging ingredient due to its abilities to stimulate the production of collagen by the skin, these claims do not seem to be proven. We also noticed that ingredients that have been found to be effective in diminishing lines and wrinkles, such as argireline, matrixyl and soluble collagen did not make it into this formula. This is a concern, since there are few other ingredients that have offered positive results like these.

- Proven anti-aging peptides are conspicuously absent.

The Bottom Line
Aveeno has an excellent reputation for producing high quality, natural skin care products at a reasonable price. However, the Aveeno anti-aging line does not seem to have the ingredients necessary to pack an effective, anti-aging punch. If you are serious about bidding farewell to lines and wrinkles, there are several products out their that incorporate cutting edge, proven peptides into their formulas. Of course, these products will probably be a bit more expensive than your typical drugstore wrinkle creams.
