Overview
The Aveeno line of Positively Radiant Anti-wrinkle Cream is primarily soy based, with the selling point being that soy can help bring youth back to damaged skin. That is quite a claim for a bean that has been around for thousands of years- one would think that if soy were that good for you we would have figured it out before now.
Product Details
This product features Aveeno’s patented soy complex, the Total Soy Complex, as well as vitamins E and B5. It also contains chamomile, yiang yiang, lavender, and feverfew. One of Aveeno’s main boast is that it does not contain any sort of oils and that it is hypoallergenic. The idea behind this formula is that it should eliminate blocked pores and decrease any allergic reactions you might get while using other such creams.
Aveeno’s claim is that soy is the absolute best product you can use on your skin. This is supposedly because soy has many vitamins, isoflavones, and saponins (natural cleaners). Soy supposedly re-hydrates skin, reduces abnormal pigmentation, helps with skin elasticity and may soften fine wrinkles and lines. Vitamin E is also good for your skin, and it can help to protect it against harmful free radicals, and even help you recover from sunburns and other skin damage faster.
Vitamin B5, another key ingredient in this product is known to have several important benefits. It helps the body to metabolize fats, carbohydrates, proteins and fats, and can assist in the production of adrenal hormones and red blood cells. Of course, all of this is when it is taken internally, so what it does when applied directly on the skin may be a different matter. It is known, however, to aid in rheumatoid arthritis, and can aid in the reduction of stress throughout your body.
The Good
- The Aveeno website has a lot of good information on it.
- The product is a good moisturizer.
The Bad
- There is not much science to back up the company’s claims of anti wrinkle effectiveness.
- The website had no customer reviews.
- They do not offer free samples on their website.
- For best effectiveness, you are supposed to use this product along with a bunch of other Aveeno products.
The Bottom Line
Soy may seem healthy, but at the moment, there just isn’t enough scientific research to back up claims that is makes a good wrinkle fighter, a concept upon which this line of Aveeno products is based. It could also be an expensive hassle to have to use other products along with this one for best results. Better to look for a product that has some sort of scientifically or clinically proven key ingredient. Aveeno talks big, but they offer no proof that their product can deliver.
